Biography
Carol A. Ott, Pharm.D., BCPP
Dr. Carol A. Ott is a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice in the College of Pharmacy at Purdue University and a clinical pharmacy specialist in psychiatry at Wishard Health Services and Midtown Community Mental Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Ott received her bachelor’s of science degree in pharmacy in 1989 and her Pharm.D. degree in 1996 from Purdue University. After a period of working in geriatric psychiatric pharmacy, Dr. Ott returned to Purdue University in 2004 to develop and implement a clinical psychiatric pharmacy practice site as well as psychiatric therapeutics in core courses and psychiatric pharmacy electives. Dr. Ott is the program director of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 psychiatric pharmacy residency based at Wishard Health Services in Indianapolis that works closely with the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Ott’s current outpatient clinical practice focuses on individuals 14–25 years old with early psychosis or first-episode schizophrenia in the only clinic of this kind in Indiana. Dr. Ott precepts Pharm.D. students on advanced practice clinical rotations in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. She teaches PGY1 and PGY4 Indiana University psychiatry residents in didactic and elective psychopharmacology. Dr. Ott serves on the Mental Health Quality Advisory Committee for Indiana Medicaid, which is charged with maintaining the current statutory mandate for open access to behavioral health drugs for Medicaid recipients in Indiana. She also serves as a member of the Indiana Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board. Dr. Ott is a member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP), having held chair positions in the Outreach and Residency and Post-Graduate Training Committees. She currently serves CPNP as the secretary on the Board of Directors. Dr. Ott has served as a Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Preparatory Review and Recertification Course faculty member since 2011.
