Clinical pharmacists at The Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center collaborated with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar, to expand the clinical knowledge of pharmacists caring for COVID-19 patients. The COVID-19 peak was predicted to occur at the end of May in Doha. ACCP member Debra Goff, Pharm.D., FCCP, FIDSA, OSU Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was asked to provide a webinar in mid-May for pharmacists in Qatar. Given that progression of the U.S. COVID-19 pandemic was about 2 months ahead of Qatar, HMC wanted to learn how U.S. clinical pharmacists were participating in the management of pharmacotherapy, dosage titration/adjustment in critically ill patients, treatment of respiratory failure, management of drug shortages, and post-discharge follow-up of COVID-19 patients. Dr. Goff and ACCP member colleagues Anthony Gerlach, Pharm.D., FCCP, FCCM, and Melissa Snider, Pharm.D., BCPS,  presented infectious diseases, critical care, and ambulatory care considerations involved in caring for COVID-19 patients on the front-lines.
