ACCP Student Travel Awards

ACCP offers travel stipends to help defray the costs students incur when attending the ACCP national meeting. Student Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Foundation and funded by the Student Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

ACCP student members in good standing who are full-time students pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree at an accredited college or school of pharmacy are invited to apply.

Dr. Kimberly B. Tallian Memorial Endowed Student Travel Award

Kimberly B. Tallian, Pharm.D., BCPP, FASHP, FCCP, FCSHP, APH was a passionate neuropsychiatric pharmacist and advocate for students, residents and patients. She was a long-time member of ACCP and contributor to the ACCP Foundation, and a fellow of the College. She was an active member and leader of the Central Nervous System Practice and Research Network. Dr. Tallian made many contributions to ACCP Committees, the Self-Assessment Programs, and the profession. She passed away in January 2023 after a 3-year battle with cancer. Her bequest to the ACCP Foundation, provides for an annual student travel award.

How to Apply

Applicants should include a curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and an essay detailing:

  • Why they are interested in clinical pharmacy as a career,
  • Their interest in psychiatric or neurologic clinical pharmacy practice or research,
  • Their interest in ACCP, and
  • Objectives for attendance at a national ACCP meeting.

Applicants without an interest in psychiatric or neurologic clinical pharmacy practice or research will also be considered.

Adult Medicine

Clinical Administration

Description
Travel award for one pharmacy student to present their research or significant project in the area of clinical administration at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Recipients are expected to attend the Clinical Administration PRN Business Meeting and give a presentation (5-10 minutes) on their project. Recipients are also expected to actively participate on a Clinical Administration PRN committee the following year.

Description

The Community-based PRN will award two travel awards (one resident/fellow and one student) toward the cost of participating in the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT (October 17-20, 2026). Critical Care

Description

The Critical Care PRN will award travel grants to partially support the costs of travel and attendance of up to 2 students at the ACCP Annual meeting.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the student travel award the candidate must: 

  • Be a current student member of the Critical Care PRN
  • Be a current full-time student in training (pursuing a pharmacy degree at an accredited school of pharmacy, pre-pharm degree, Master’s degree candidate, etc.). Applications from those who have obtained a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree now enrolled in alternative or additional graduate degree programs will not be considered.
  • Have completed, or demonstrated significant progress in, a critical care related research project under the direction of a critical care PRN member
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual ACCP meeting. For applicants who have graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy within the past 6 months, the research being presented must have been a project completed prior to their date of graduation.
  • Have a letter of support from their employer, school, or supervisor acknowledging that if the applicant wins the travel grant, they will support the applicant with the time and additional resources necessary to attend the ACCP annual meeting.
  • Submit a CV and Personal statement (max 500 words) describing applicant’s interest and experiences in pharmacy education/training, why the applicant is involved with the Critical Care PRN, and how attending the Annual Meeting will assist with the applicant's career goals.
Application Requirements

The application materials must be submitted to the Chair of the Critical Care PRN Travel Awards Committee via email by the deadline. The application will be scored individually by each member of the Travel Awards Committee, and the award will be granted to the abstract with the highest average score. If an abstract is submitted by a student that is under the mentorship of a member of the travel awards committee, that committee member will recuse him or herself from scoring that abstract. In the case of a tie score, the award will be determined by consensus of the members of the Awards Committee. For each award, the recipient will be required to present their poster during the Critical Care PRN Networking and Business Meeting at the ACCP Fall Meeting.

The EDTR PRN travel awards are intended to provide partial financial support to student(s) to attend the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

The applicant must be a student member of the EDTR PRN. The recipient must be able to attend the EDTR PRN Business & Networking Meeting on the evening of Sunday, October 18th from 6:30-8:30 PM in Salt Lake City, UT. The recipient(s) of the travel awards will be required to briefly comment on their experiences with ACCP, what they hope to gain or have gained from attending the Annual Meeting, and their interest in education and training at the EDTR PRN business meeting.

Application Requirements

The following items must be submitted by the specified deadline:

  1. A brief (500-word maximum) essay, describing the applicant’s interest and experiences in pharmacy education/training, why the applicant is involved with the EDTR PRN, and how attending the Annual Meeting will assist with the applicant's career goals. The applicant is encouraged to highlight involvement relevant to leadership, research, ACCP/ the PRNs, and activities indicating an interest in education.
  2. A current CV, highlighting experiences related to education and training and ACCP activities at the school, regional, PRN, and national level, as applicable.
  3. One letter of recommendation highlighting the applicant’s interest in pharmacy education/training, interaction and interest in the EDTR PRN, how the travel award will help the trainee achieve their career goals, and the trainee’s involvement in research, ACCP, and their school’s ACCP student chapter if applicable.

The candidate is welcome to apply simultaneously for other travel awards from ACCP or other PRNs, and this information will not be considered by the EDTR PRN in the evaluation of the trainee’s application. However, the EDTR PRN’s travel award will not be awarded to a recipient who has accepted either an ACCP general travel award or another PRN’s travel award (i.e. the recipient must determine if they wish to accept the EDTR travel award or another ACCP-based travel award if more than one is offered).

Endocrine and Metabolism

Description

The Endocrine and Metabolism (E/M) PRN Trainee Travel Grant is intended to provide financial support for one or more students, residents, and/or fellows attending the ACCP Annual Meeting.

The recipient(s) of the travel grant is required to give a brief (10-minute) presentation at the E/M PRN Business & Networking meeting. The presentation can be an endocrine- or metabolism- related clinical pearl, description of a completed or ongoing research project, or journal article review.

The recipient(s) of the travel grant will be assigned a mentor (who is a member of the E/M PRN) who can provide guidance with the preparation of this presentation.

For the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting, up to two $500 grants will be awarded:

  1. Up to one $500 grant will be awarded to a pharmacy resident or fellow
  2. Up to one $500 grant will be awarded to a pharmacy student

Application Requirements:

  • Applicants must be:
    • A current student, pharmacy resident (PGY1 or PGY2), or fellow
    • A member of the ACCP E/M PRN

GI/Liver/Nutrition

Description
The GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN would like to encourage students, residents, fellows, and new practitioners with an interest and relevant involvement in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, or nutrition to apply for a travel grant that would help support attendance at the ACCP annual meeting. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to: drug utilization reviews (DUE), quality improvement (QI) projects, and traditional research.

Applicants must be members of ACCP. Applicants must be members of the GI/L/N PRN OR nominated by a GI/L/N PRN nonstudent member. The applicants must be either a student, resident, fellow, or new practitioner. If selected, the applicant is required to give a brief presentation of their student, resident, or fellow project at the annual ACCP GI/L/N PRN business meeting. Research is NOT required to be an accepted poster presented at the annual meeting for this award.

A total of two (2) awards will be granted from the following categories: Student, Resident or fellow, or new practitioner (presenting residency/fellowship project from previous year), New practitioner (defined as up to 5 years post Pharm.D.)

The GI/L/N PRN reserves the right to adjust distribution of awards according to the number of applications received. In the event no applications are received for one of the award categories, award monies may be distributed to the remaining qualified applicant(s) or as deemed necessary by the GI/L/N PRN executive committee.

Health Outcomes

Description

The Health Outcomes PRN will award up to three travel awards ($500) each to partially support ACCP Annual Meeting travel and attendance costs for up to three trainees interested in health outcomes research. Each awardee will also be given a one-year membership to the Health Outcomes PRN for the 2025-2026 year beginning with the 2025 Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award, candidates must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Be a full-time pharmacy student pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. When possible, we aim to award one student, one resident and one fellow in the post-graduate trainee category.  
  2. Express an interest in health outcomes research. 
  3. Evidence of ongoing or recent scholarship in health outcomes research.
  4. Previous award recipients are not eligible in subsequent award cycles.
Application Requirements

Each applicant may submit only one application for consideration of this award. 

A complete application should be submitted, including the following: 

A current CV including your involvement and participation in ACCP and/or the Health Outcomes PRN. Examples include:

      1. Years within PRN/ACCP
      2. Participation in PRN/ACCP (ACCP Challenges, student chapter activities, etc.)
      3. Previous ACCP meeting attendance and participation
      4. Previous attendance/presentation at other Health Outcomes Research or related meetings
      5. Past research involvement (posters, projects, manuscripts.

A one-page letter of intent stating your interests in health outcomes research and expected outcomes from attending the ACCP Annual Meeting along with plans for future contribution to ACCP and the Health Outcomes PRN. Please also describe ongoing or recently completed research that could be presented at the Health Outcomes PRN Business Meeting.

A one-page reference letter from your research mentor or advisor stating the applicant’s involvement and interest in health outcomes research. Please provide specific examples.

Hematology/Oncology

Description

The Hematology/Oncology (H/O) PRN will be awarding one travel grant of $1000 to support the costs associated with attending the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT in October. This grant will be dedicated to a full-time student pharmacist or pharmacy resident in good academic standing with an interest in hematology/oncology. The awardee must present findings of a hematology oncology-related project at the Hematology/Oncology PRN Business Meeting in the form of a platform presentation and submit an abstract to present a poster of research findings at the Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

1. Current student in good academic standing enrolled full-time in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school or PGY-1/PGY-2 pharmacy resident. 2. Current ACCP member. 3. Current Hematology/Oncology PRN member or willing to become a member if selected. 4. Agrees to attend ACCP’s Annual Meeting and participate in the program activities. 5. Desire to present a research poster at the Annual Meeting and a 10 minute podium presentation of research findings at the H/O PRN business meeting. Research or project topic must be related to hematology/oncology and initiated during pharmacy school or PGY-1/PGY-2 residency year.

Application Requirements

Applicants may only submit one application to be considered for the award. Applicants must have submitted an abstract for consideration to present at the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting. Irrespective of being selected to present the abstract findings, applicants must agree to present a maximum 10-minute platform presentation at the PRN’s Business and Networking Forum at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Please submit an updated curriculum vitae (including name, graduation year, college of pharmacy), one letter of reference, a one-page letter of intent (LOI), and a copy of the submitted abstract. The letter of reference should be provided by either a clinical pharmacy practitioner or faculty member and should be submitted directly to the chair of the Membership and Operations Committee (Morgan Steiner) by the writer. The LOI should be a maximum of 500 words and express your interest in hematology/oncology, demonstrate service/dedication and professional development or strong interest in professional development and/or research, reason(s) for attending the ACCP Annual Meeting, and describe abstract(s) submitted or planning to submit to present at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Submitting an abstract according to the ACCP Annual Meeting deadlines is required. However, an accepted abstract is not a requirement to receive the award. Research in progress abstracts are permitted, however it is expected that research findings are completed for presentation at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

All application materials should be submitted via email to the current chair of the H/O PRN Membership & Operations Committee chair, Morgan Steiner ([email protected]). An organized selection committee comprised of members of the H/O PRN Membership & Operations Committee will select the award recipient using a predetermined scoring-system and rubric. Those awarded an ACCP travel award will not be eligible for the Hematology/Oncology PRN award. HIV

Description

This award acknowledges a pharmacy student, resident, or fellow who has shown an interest in HIV through clinical experiences, research, and/or publications in HIV. In addition, the trainee should maintain high standards of professionalism, promote pharmacy education and excellence in clinical practice, and serve as a role model for others. This award is intended to assist with costs travel, lodging, and registration for the meeting.

Description

Eligibility Criteria

The Nominee must:

  • Be an ACCP trainee (student, resident, or fellow) member in good standing

  • Be an ACCP Infectious Diseases PRN member

  • Current trainee or not more than 6 months removed from terminal degree from an accredited college/school of pharmacy) or training program (e.g. PGY2 residency or PGY2 diseases-related residency) at the time of ACCP Annual Meeting in October (i.e. PGY2 residents completing training in June/July are eligible) Graduating trainees can apply for trainee awards in the same calendar year as graduation (e.g. graduating in July 2026, can apply for trainee award in 2026).

  • Have conducted research in an area applicable to infectious diseases and be presenting that research at the ACCP Annual Meeting. This research must be an accepted abstract at the ACCP Annual Meeting as either completed research or research-in-progress.

  • To be considered for the student award, research must have been conducted while a PharmD student

  • To be considered for the resident/fellow award, research must have been conducted while a post-PharmD resident or fellow

  • Prior recipients of an Infectious Diseases PRN travel award are not eligible.

  • Recipients of a travel award from another PRN for the same conference during the same year are not eligible.

Application Requirements

Nomination Submission Requirements:

  • Completed attestations of eligibility for the specific award (see Appendix I)

  • Updated curriculum vitae

  • Personal statement from the nominee

    • Describe goals and interests related to ID

    • Describe plans to maintain research and scholarship in ID

    • Describe plans to maintain teaching related to ID

    • Describe plans to maintain clinical activities in ID

  • One letter of recommendation from:

    • One mentor (e.g., faculty member, program director, preceptor) who can attest to the clinical skills and/or research performance of the nominee. Letter of recommendation does not have to be from an ACCP member.

The personal statement and letter of recommendation should clearly document the nominee’s desire to pursue a career involving practice, research and education in the field of infectious diseases, and any additional information that distinguishes the nominee.

Individuals can nominate themselves.

Nephrology

Description
  • The Nephrology PRN Trainee Travel Grant provides financial support for students, residents, and/or fellows attending the ACCP Annual Meeting.
  • Each recipient of the travel grant is required to give a brief (10-minute) presentation at the Nephrology PRN Business & Networking meeting. This presentation can be on a clinical pearl or a completed or ongoing research project related to nephrology (preferred for resident/fellow awards). 
  • Each recipient will be assigned a mentor (a member of the Nephrology PRN) who will provide guidance with the preparation of their presentation.

Transplant

Description

The ACCP Transplant PRN will be offering travel awards to help support up to four Transplant PRN members with travel expenses (ie. lodging, airfare, meeting registration) for the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT on Oct 17 - Oct 20. We are offering a "bundle package" which will allow for the student/resident/fellow as the primary applicant and an associated preceptor on the project to both receive $750 towards travel expenses. We will be offering awards to either the combination of two bundle packages the combination of one bundle package and two individual recipients depending on top scoring abstracts. If no bundle package is submitted, then funding would be provided for up to four individual recipients. While the application deadline is before the notification of abstract acceptance for the annual meeting, awardees of the travel grant will not be announced or awarded until after abstract acceptance is confirmed. Please do not be deterred from applying for the travel grant because you don't know if your abstract will be accepted!

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive theawardthe applicant must:  

1.    Be a current member of the ACCP Transplant PRN 

2.    Have a research abstract accepted to the Transplant specialty section for the ACCP Annual Meeting 

3.    Be lead author of the research project 

4.    Submit no more than one abstract for this award 

5.    Not have received this award in the previous three (3) years 

6.    Present his/her research as a brief presentation at the Transplant PRN Business Meeting and Networking Forum during the ACCP Annual Meeting 

Application Requirements

The award recipient(s) will be selected according to the quality of the abstract as defined by the scoring system found in the application materials. Each abstract will be scored on 3 areas: content, quality, and significance. Each assessment will receive a score ranging from 0-1 (maximum score =12). The abstract with the highest average point total will receive the travel award with preference given to students, residents, fellows, and new practitioners (completed training within the last 5 years). The abstract must receive a minimum average score of 50% to be considered for award selection. In the absence of high-quality abstracts, the travel awards may not be given every year.

Women's Health

Description

The Women’s Health PRN offers travel awards to PRN members who have an interest in women’s health, meet eligibility requirements, and are selected by the Award’s Committee.
