ACCP Annual Meeting Student Travel Awards

ACCP offers travel stipends and/or complimentary meeting registrations to help defray the costs students incur when traveling to attend an ACCP national meeting. Student Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Research Institute and are funded by the Student Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

Student members of ACCP who are full-time pharmacy students pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree are invited to apply for the awards. PRN Travel Awards

In addition to ACCP Student Travel Awards, the following PRNs also provide travel awards to defray costs associated with attending the ACCP Annual Meeting. Please see below for more information about each travel award, including eligibility and application deadlines.

Each PRN Travel Award has its own application process separate from the ACCP Student Travel Award application above. If you applying for multiple travel awards, please be sure to submit an application for each travel award you are applying for.

Adult Medicine
Description
This is a $1000 award to provide an opportunity for a pharmacy student to present and promote his or her research efforts to the Adult Medicine PRN. This award will go toward registration and travel expenses for the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
The applicant must be: Enrolled in a school of pharmacy. An ACCP student member in good standing. An Adult Medicine PRN member. Have conducted research in an area applicable to adult medicine during pharmacy school. Anticipate project completion by the ACCP Annual Meeting. Present results at the Adult Medicine PRN session at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
Application Requirements
Submit an abstract (using ACCP guidelines at www.accp.com) to the chair of the Adult Medicine PRN Travel and Training Awards Committee. Submit a brief statement (250 word max) highlighting your interest in clinical pharmacy practice (include your name, graduation year, and school of pharmacy).

Critical Care
Description
The Critical Care PRN will award travel grants to partially support the costs of travel and attendance of a student at the ACCP Annual meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the student travel award the candidate must:
  • Be a student member of ACCP
  • Be a full-time pharmacy student pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree at an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Have completed, or demonstrated significant progress in, a critical care related project under the direction of a PRN member
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the Annual ACCP meeting.
Application Requirements
The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Critical Care PRN Awards Committee via email by the deadline stated in the call for abstracts. The abstracts will be scored individually by each member of the Awards Committee, and the award will be granted to the abstract with the highest average score. In the case of a tie score, the award will be determined by consensus of the members of the Awards Committee.

Drug Information
Description
The DI PRN will award a travel grant in the amount of $500 for one student who will be presenting a drug information related poster at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria: 1) student member of ACCP, 2) full-time pharmacy student pursuing his/her first professional pharmacy degree, and 3) presenting a drug-information related poster at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
Application Requirements
Each student may submit only one application in consideration for this award. The student should submit a current CV, a one page letter of intent stating their interest in the area of drug information, and the submitted abstract for the poster presentation. Winners will be required to attend the DI PRN Business meeting to discuss their research.

Education and Training
Description
The EDTR PRN travel scholarship is intended to provide partial financial support to two student(s), resident(s) or fellow(s) to the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Emergency Medicine
Description
The Emergency Medicine Practice and Research Network (EMED PRN) of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) will award one travel award per year for each a student and resident to partially support the costs of travel and attendance at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible the following criteria must be met: •Be a current member of the EMED PRN •Have an abstract accepted for presentation (poster or platform) at the 2013 Annual ACCP meeting or 2013 ACCP virtual poster session •Student Award – the applicant should have completed the research project as a student; however, can be graduated within the previous 6 months •Be available to attend the Annual ACCP meeting
Application Requirements
The recipients of the travel awards will be required to present their research project as a 10-minute platform presentation at the EMED PRN business meeting on Tuesday, October 15 from 6 to 9 pm at the Hyatt Regency, Albuquerque, NM. Each applicant may only submit one research abstract for consideration for either the Student or Resident Award. Students or Residents/Fellows that have received an ACCP Travel Award or another PRN Travel Award for the 2013 ACCP Annual meeting will have to decline the award of their choosing so that only one award is received. In the event that the EMED PRN travel award is declined, the runner-up will be awarded.

Geriatrics
Description
The Geriatrics PRN will award one (1) travel grant to partially support the expenses associated with attendance and travel for one student to the 2013 ACCP Annual Meeting for those with an interest in geriatrics or who may be considering geriatric training.

Each applicant must submit the following for award consideration: • Resume/Curriculum Vitae • Letter of support from a current Geriatrics PRN Member or other healthcare professional/academician • One to two-page essay stating his/her interest in geriatric training, purpose for attending the 2013 ACCP Annual Meeting, career goals, and interest in future involvement with ACCP and the Geriatrics PRN.

GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN
Description
The GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN would like to encourage students, residents, or fellows with an interest and relevant involvement in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, or nutrition to apply for a travel grant that would help support attendance at the ACCP annual meeting. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to, DUE, QI, and IRB in addition to traditional research.

Infectious Diseases
Description
The Infectious Diseases PRN will award a travel grant in the amount of $1000 for two students who will be presenting a poster in the area of infectious diseases at the ACCP Annual Meeting. The award will partially support the costs associated with travel and attendance for a student with an interest or focus in infectious diseases.

Nephrology
Description
The Nephrology PRN will award one student to partially support the costs of travel and attendance at the ACCP Annual meeting. Preference will be given to those presenting a nephrology-focused poster at the ACCP meeting.

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a student member of ACCP
  • Be a fulltime pharmacy student pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree at an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Have completed, or demonstrated significant progress in, a nephrology related project under the direction of a PRN member
  • Able to attend the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting and provide a brief presentation (~10 minutes) of their research or clinical project
  • Posters accepted for presentation at the ACCP Annual meeting are welcome
Application Requirements
The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Nephrology PRN Membership Committee via email by the deadline stated in the call for abstracts. The abstracts will be scored individually by each member of the committee. The award will be granted to the abstract with the highest average score. If an abstract is submitted by a student, resident, or fellow that is under the mentorship of a member of the awards committee, that committee member will recuse him or herself from scoring that abstract. The award recipient will also be required to submit: (1) a current CV, (2) letter of intent (750 words maximum) which describes the applicant’s interest in nephrology and the project they plan to present at the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking Meeting, (3) one letter of recommendation from either a clinical pharmacy practitioner or School of Pharmacy faculty member (letters from ACCP members recommended, if possible), and (4) a copy of the abstract accepted for presentation at ACCP annual meeting, if applicable.

Pain and Palliative Care
Description
The Pain and Palliative Care PRN will award a 2 travel grants in the amount of $500 each. The PRN will have the option of distributing the grants to either students, residents, or fellows, based on the quality of the individual applications, and not the level of training. If selected, the student will present on the subject of pain management and/or palliative care at the Pain and Palliative Care PRN Business & Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Description
The PEDIATRICS PRN Travel Awards are intended to provide partial financial support students, residents or fellows to the ACCP Annual Meeting. The PEDIATRICS PRN will award up to two scholarships (e.g., one resident, one student) per year.
