Abstract

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Pulmonary Practice and Research Network (PRN) was founded in 2017 and has seen considerable growth and impact since its inception. The committee started with 36 members in 2019 and has grown to 83 members in 2023. The mission of this PRN is to improve the health of patients affected by pulmonary diseases by fostering practice innovation, supporting outcomes and translational research, and providing high-quality education to patients and practitioners. The PRN’s vision is to be the society-based organization for advancing pulmonary pharmacy practice, research, and education through collaboration, innovation, and leadership to optimize patient quality and quantity of life.

Members’ interest areas include, but are not limited to: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung diseases, collagen vascular lung diseases, cystic fibrosis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, lung transplant, lung cancer, tobacco dependence, and infections of the lung. The Pulmonary PRN provides a forum for like-minded practitioners to collaborate in patient care, education, and scholarly activities germane to members’ interests. All PRN activities focus on achieving this goal. The Pulmonary PRN fosters interdisciplinary, multicenter research projects to advance the field.

The Pulmonary PRN has four committees: Communications Committee, Nominations and Awards Committee, Education and Programming Committee, and Research Committee. These committees consist of dedicated members who put together high-quality annual educational programming, create and distribute annual newsletters, share information via social media, recognize members for high-quality work, and collaborate on research projects that result in publications.
