Ambulatory Care PRN Focus Session — Breaking Down Depression and Anxiety Management for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacist

Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM CST at Lone Star Ballroom C2

Available for 1.50 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-23-125-L01-P
Activity Type: An Application-Based Activity

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the global prevalence of anxiety and depression has risen by a massive 25%.  Not only will ambulatory care pharmacists be likely to encounter these conditions incidentally, but they are also well positioned in multiple care settings to respond to this post-pandemic epidemic.  In spite of this, many ambulatory care pharmacists do not feel confident in their abilities to provide medication management services to this population.  This session will support pharmacists by reviewing foundations of medication management for anxiety and depression.  Further, we will explore the relatively recent innovation of pharmacogenetics in guiding depression and anxiety pharmacotherapy. A case-based component of the session will help with practical implementation of the concepts reviewed and introduced.
