An infodemic is a phenomenon of having too much information circulating, including false and misleading information, during a disease outbreak. This information session will bring awareness to and review the detrimental spread of misinformation via social media and address this emergent public health problem. At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to define an infodemic and learn how to apply health literacy to differentiate between medical information and misinformation seen on social media. The discussion will center around ways to identify medical misinformation and possible solutions to combat this misinformation.
