Pharmacy leaders work in variety of organizations in their professional and personal lives. Organizations, including committees, task forces, and even large state and national associations, have certain characteristics that must be understood and managed in order to maximize their effectiveness and efficiency. This workshop will discuss effective organizational management and how participants can manage their organizations more effectively. Material dealing with organizational development and small-group communication will first be discussed. Throughout, participants will divide into small working groups to apply the material to their experiences. Cases will also be presented to help participants apply the material. This workshop will build on the material presented in previous workshops and will focus on three essential phases of organizational development (planning, implementing, and evaluating). Strategies dealing with conflict within organizations will be emphasized toward the end of the workshop.
