Dr. Larry Segars is the Chair of Basic Sciences-KC campus and an Associate Professor of Pharmacology for the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Associate Professor of Biosciences for the College of Biosciences at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU). Dr. Segars graduated from University of Texas, College of Pharmacy with his Pharm.D., and his Doctor of Public Health from University of North Texas Health Science Center, School of Public Health, in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Segars has worked in a variety of faculty and industry positions including an assistant professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, clinical pharmacist for Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and The University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri, and as a medical science liaison for Wyeth and Shire Pharmaceuticals, before joining the KCU faculty in 2006.
Dr. Segars earned his board certification pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS) in 1994, and he has served as an item writer and reviewer for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Pharmacotherapy Board Exam. Dr. Segars is a member of many professional organizations including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (where he has held fellowship status since 2005), and the American College of Epidemiology. (where he has held fellowship status since 2014). In addition, Dr. Segars has numerous peer reviewed publications in journals such as Annals of Epidemiology, Pharmacotherapy, Clinical Therapeutics, Journal of Family Practice, Annals of Pharmacotherapy and has presented over 30 abstracts at various regional, national, and international meetings.
