Robert Beckett, Pharm.D., BCPS

Drug Information and Communication Strategies in Pharmacy

Robert Beckett currently serves as director of the drug information center and associate professor of pharmacy practice at Manchester University. Before his appointment at Manchester, he completed two ASHP-accredited residency programs: a general PGY1 at Rush University Medical Center and a drug information specialty PGY2 with Indiana University Health and Purdue University. He coordinates didactic, pharmacy practice laboratory, and experiential coursework for topics related to drug information and drug literature evaluation and precepts PGY1 pharmacy residents on a drug information elective. In his role at the drug information center, he works closely with three large health care systems to provide comprehensive drug information services according to site needs. He has about 20 published peer-reviewed journal articles, most of which are related to drug information practice or teaching. He has also published two drug information-related instructional book chapters, with another in press. Dr. Beckett won the 2017 AACP Emerging Teaching Scholar Award.

Deborah S. Bondi, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCPPS

Pediatrics

Deborah Bondi completed her Pharm.D. degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She completed both her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is currently the Pediatric Clinical Coordinator, a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program Director at the University of Chicago Medicine, Comer Children’s Hospital. She additionally holds appointments as adjunct faculty at multiple schools of pharmacy. She has served on several committees for Pediatric Pharmacy Association and ACCP and has published articles in The Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Pharmacotherapy, and Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy on various neonatal and pharmacy topics.

John M. Burke, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS

Nephrology

Dr. John M. Burke is currently a professor of pharmacy practice and associate dean for postgraduate education at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He earned his B.S. degree in pharmacy from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Texas. He completed his clinical pharmacy residency at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Burke is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has been a clinical practitioner and faculty member for over 25 years.

Jacintha S. Cauffield, Pharm.D., BCPS, CDE, CRPS-A

General Psychiatry

Dr. Jacintha S. Cauffield received her Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Maryland, followed by a 2 year fellowship in family medicine at University of Florida under the direction of Dr. John Gums. Her career experience includes the West Palm beach VAMC and and the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Group Residency Program in Vancouver, WA.

Currently she is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy. She coordinates and teaches in the Neurologic and Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy series. She additionally maintains an ambulatory care practice site at a local safety net clinic.

Nephrology

Dr. Crannage obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed residency training at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He is currently an Assistant Professor at St. Louis College of Pharmacy with a practice site in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

Paul P. Dobesh, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCCP

Anticoagulation

Dr. Paul P. Dobesh has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from South Dakota State University. Two year add-on Pharm.D. degree also from South Dakota State University. Internal Medicine Specialty Residency with the University of Texas at Austin at Brackenridge Hospital. He is currently Professor of Pharmacy Practice with the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Currently maintains clinical practice with cardiology services at Nebraska Medical Center. Responsible for teaching pharmacy and medical students as well as pharmacy and medical residents. Lectures in the area of ischemic heart disease, antithrombotic therapy, and other cardiology and critical care topics. Dr. Dobesh has conducted research on antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapy, focusing on real-world utilization and health-economics. He has also published book chapters and several manuscripts in this area. Dr. Dobesh was awarded the “Distinguished Educator or the Year” award at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in 2015, an award he has received 4 times since 2007. In 2013 he was also awarded the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus wide Outstanding Educator Award.

Christopher T. Elder, Pharm.D., BCOP

Oncology Supportive Care

Dr. Christopher T. Elder is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Palm Beach Atlantic University a role he has served in since 2017. Prior to joining Palm Beach Atlantic University Dr. Elder served as a Hematology/Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at Cone Health.

Dr. Elder graduated from South University with his doctorate in pharmacy, and then completed a PGY1 residency and a PGY2 residency in Oncology Pharmacy. He earned his board certification in oncology pharmacy in 2015. Dr. Elder is active in many professional associations including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology

Shannon W. Finks, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCCP, AHSCP-CHC

Acute Care in Cardiology

Dr. Shannon Finks, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCCP, AHSCP-CHC is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis, Tennessee.  She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 1998 and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Methodist Hospitals of Memphis in 1999.   She has practiced and taught in private hospitals, Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals, and academic institutions in the area of cardiovascular and other drug therapy for over two decades.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and has Board of Pharmaceutical Specialty Certifications in Pharmacotherapy and Cardiology.  She has additional training in Applied Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacogenomics and is a Certified Hypertension Clinician by the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Finks is well published in the medical literature and has provided over 150 invited lectures on numerous cardiovascular related topics to health care professionals on a local, regional, and national platforms.  She is national faculty for two of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s Board Certification Courses and frequently presents continuing education for pharmacists on a national scale.  Dr. Finks has received multiple prestigious teaching awards, including the Most Influential Professor Award from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, The University of Tennessee Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher Award, and the SGAEC Excellence in Teaching Award.  She has authored over 40 peer-reviewed papers in medical and pharmacy journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.   In 2020 alongside her physician husband, Dr. Finks opened a concierge medicine practice Züp Medical Services, LLC where she serves as President and Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services and currently offers comprehensive medication management and pharmacogenomic consultations under a collaborative practice agreement.

Caitlin M. Gibson, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCCP

Chronic Care in Cardiology

Dr. Caitlin M. Gibson is Associate Professor and Vice Chair in the Pharmacotherapy Department at the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX. She maintains a practice in inpatient cardiology on a telemetry unit and a cardiovascular ICU at Medical City Arlington. Dr. Gibson received her PharmD from the University of Texas at Austin, completed her PGY1 residency at the North Texas VA/Texas Tech, and completed her PGY2 at Indiana University Health/Butler University. Her professional interests include anticoagulation, cardiovascular surgery, health disparities in cardiovascular disease state management, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. In her free time she enjoys practicing AcroYoga, playing with her rescue pups, and traveling.

Leslie A. Hamilton, Pharm.D., FCCP, FCCM, FNCS, BCPS, BCCCP

Fluids, Electrolytes, and Nutrition

Dr. Leslie A. Hamilton, Pharm.D., FCCP, FCCM, BCPS, BCCCP, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. She practices in neurology and critical care at UT Medical Center. Prior to joining UT, Dr. Hamilton served on faculty at Auburn University for three years and practiced in pulmonology and critical care. Her interests are critical care, neurology, nutrition, and infectious disease. She serves on several committees for AACP, ACCP, NCS, and SCCM.

Lisa C. Hutchison, Pharm.D., MPH, FCCP, BCPS, BCGP

Healthcare Systems and Population Health

Dr. Hutchison earned her BS pharmacy degree and her Pharm.D. at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis and completed a Clinical Pharmacy Residency at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 2001, she earned her MPH from the University of South Florida College of Public Health in Tampa, FL. She won the Award for Achievement in the Professional Practice of Pharmacy in Organized Health Care Settings from the American Society of Healthsystems Pharmacy in 1993 and, in 2008, the American Pharmacists Association recognized her with the Distinguished Achievement Award in Hospital and Institutional Practice. She is co-editor of the pharmacy textbook, Fundamentals of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy. Dr. Hutchison practices clinical pharmacy at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging at UAMS with research interests involving drug-related problems in older adults.

Brian K. Irons, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCACP

Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders

Dr. Brian K. Irons is a professor with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy and had served as the Division Head of Ambulatory Care from 2005-2019. He received his B.S. in pharmacy and Pharm.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin and his B.S. degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He completed a pharmacy practice residency at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a specialty residency in managed care/ambulatory care at the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy. He was a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist in 2000-2014, is a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist (2011-present), and held certification in advanced diabetes management from 2010 to 2017. Dr. Irons's practice on the Lubbock campus optimizes patient care for various disease states, including diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and anticoagulation, through pharmacist-physician collaborative drug therapy management in the TTUHSC Department of Internal Medicine. He was named as a Fellow of ACCP in 2011. He is a past chair of ACCP’s Ambulatory Care PRN and formally served as its secretary. He is a past chair and secretary/treasurer of the Endocrine and Metabolism PRN. Dr. Irons has served as a faculty member for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Updates in Therapeutics®: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Review Course since 2010.

Jason Isch, Pharm.D., BCACP

Drug Information and Communication Strategies in Pharmacy

Jason Isch is currently an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Manchester University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also serves as a co-funded clinical pharmacist specializing in ambulatory care throughout the South Bend, Indiana community for the Saint Joseph Health System. Prior to this current appointment, he graduated from Purdue University and completed two years of residency specialized in ambulatory care at Saint Joseph Health System (Mishawaka, IN). While at his practice sites, he specializes in chronic disease state management with focuses on patient communications, diabetes education, and outpatient HIV management. In his academic role at Manchester, Jason coordinates the first year "patient-centered care" course which focuses on patient communications, professional management, interprofessional education, and other basic disciplines of the pharmacy profession. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, community, church, and playing sports of all kinds.

Ashley H. Meredith, Pharm.D., MPH, FCCP, BCACP, BCPS, CDCES

Men's and Women's Health

Dr. Ashley H. Meredith is a clinical associate professor of pharmacy practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy in West Lafayette, Indiana. Her primary area of clinical practice is in adult primary care at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, Indiana with a secondary clinical practice in contraception prescribing at the Purdue University Pharmacy.

Dr. Meredith earned her Pharm.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy in 2007, and she is board certified in both ambulatory care and pharmacotherapy, along with maintaining the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist credentials.

Her professional interests include evaluating increased access to contraception through pharmacist prescribing, cardiovascular risk reduction disease state management, expansion of community health workforce to address social determinants of health, assessment of patient and provider satisfaction with pharmacist-managed clinics, and perceptions of community pharmacist prescribing privileges.

Golden L. Peters, Pharm.D., BCPS

Neurology

Dr. Peters received his B.A. degree from Fontbonne University in Clayton, Missouri and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 2009. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency in 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in affiliation with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri. He is also a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Primary Care at the St. Louis County Department of Public Health – North Central Community Health Center. He is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2011. Dr. Peters has received multiple professional recognitions, some of these include St. Louis College of Pharmacy Clinical Excellence Preceptor of the Year Award, Illinois Pharmacist Association Educator of the Year Award, and Excellence in Teaching Award from Emerson. His areas of interest and clinical services include: headache disorders, opioid use disorder, diabetes, resistant hypertension, and smoking cessation.

Emily Scopelliti, Pharm.D., BCPS

Pulmonary Disorders and Adult Immunizations

Dr. Emily M. Scopelliti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Jefferson College of Pharmacy, Thomas Jefferson University. Prior to joining Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Scopelliti served as a faculty member at Shenandoah University for four years. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy at Wilkes University followed by a pharmacy practice residency with a focus in primary care at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Lebanon, PA.

She currently maintains an ambulatory care practice within an interdisciplinary internal medicine practice and provides pharmacy services pertaining to the management of chronic disease states. Dr. Scopelliti is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.

Curtis L. Smith, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS

Infectious Diseases I; Infectious Diseases II; Pharmacokinetics: A Refresher

Dr. Curtis L. Smith received a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in Michigan and then completed a Pharm.D. degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. After completing a fellowship in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics at the University of Oklahoma, he returned to Ferris State University as a faculty member at the School of Pharmacy. Dr. Smith is a professor, Ferris State University, and practices in pharmacokinetics in special populations, internal medicine, infectious diseases, and surgery/trauma. Dr. Smith is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist who has given presentations and published in pharmacokinetics and infectious diseases. Dr. Smith has served as a faculty member for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Updates in Therapeutics: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Review Course since 2002.

Kevin M. Sowinski, Pharm.D., FCCP

Biostatistics: A Refresher; Study Designs: Fundamentals and Interpretation

Dr. Kevin M. Sowinski is professor of pharmacy practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy and adjunct professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Sowinski received a bachelor’s of science degree in pharmacy in 1990 and a Pharm.D. degree in 1992 at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. From 1992 to 1995, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He has been at Purdue University since 1995.

Dr. Sowinski has served as chair of several ACCP committees and task forces as well as the ACCP Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics PRN. He has also served as a specialist member and chair of the Pharmacotherapy Specialty Council of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

Dr. Sowinski has published more than 100 original publications or abstracts, as well as more than 20 book chapters, letters, or editorials. These papers have mostly focused on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, biostatistics, and issues in pharmaceutical education. Dr. Sowinski teaches cardiovascular therapeutics, biostatistics, and research design to Pharm.D. and graduate students.

Sheila M. Wilhelm, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS

Gastrointestinal Disorders

Dr. Sheila M. Wilhelm is Clinical Professor within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where she is the coordinator of the Patient Care Laboratory. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan followed by a pharmacy practice residency at MidMichigan Health. Her teaching, scholarly, and patient care activities focus mainly on the scholarship of teaching and learning and gastroenterology. 

Corey J. Witenko, Pharm.D., FCCM, BCPS, BCCCP

Critical Care

Dr. Corey Witenko is a PGY2 Critical Care trained clinical pharmacist and has practiced in critical care and emergency medicine for over ten years. He has extensive patient care, research, and administrative experiences focused on surgical and trauma patient populations. He is board certified in pharmacotherapy and critical care pharmacotherapy and recently earned the Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) designation.
