SNPhA x ACCP Residency and Fellowship Showcase Candidates Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

I'm not quite ready to apply for a postgraduate training program but would like to attend the showcase to learn more. Do I still need to submit a candidate profile if I am not ready to apply?

A:

Yes. Submitting your candidate profile gives hiring representatives an idea about who you are and where you are in your career. It also tells them what your intentions are, i.e. whether you are looking for a particular position or if you are inquiring about their programs in general. Please note that program representatives have limited time available during the showcase. Be respectful of those seeking 2024/2025 positions by limiting your questions and interactions to a few minutes.

Q:

Is this event for SNPhA members?

A:

Yes! This event was collaboratively planned and offered by SNPhA and ACCP. All SNPhA members are encouraged to participate. However, the event is open to everyone – so you are encouraged to participate regardless of SNPhA membership status.

Q:

Is this event for ACCP members?

A:

Yes! This event was collaboratively planned and offered by SNPhA and ACCP. All ACCP student and trainee members are encouraged to participate. However, the event is open to everyone – so you are encouraged to participate regardless of SNPhA membership status.

Q:

Do I have to be an ACCP or SNPhA member to participate?

A:

No! Anyone seeking postgraduate training is welcome to participate!

Q:

Is this event for current students?

A:

Yes. Current students who will enter residency or fellowship programs in 2024 are encouraged to attend. All posted positions will begin in 2024 so those seeking positions beginning in 2024 should receive the highest priority. The event will primarily include first year programs – residency and fellowship.

Q:

How do I prepare for the Showcase?

A:

Determine which programs you would like to visit by reviewing position listings AND going to that program’s website to learn more. Select your favorites by clicking on “favorite” within position listings. View your favorites and sign up to attend those programs of greatest interest. Programs have 4 timeslots, 15 minutes each. You can visit up to 4 programs/hour but you’ll need to be organized and prepared. Be sure to come to the showcase prepared with informed questions for recruiters. With time limitations in mind, it is best to focus on specific questions rather than general inquiries. Use the virtual platform link within your personal agenda to enter virtual Showcase booths.

Q:

Is there a list of programs that I can access before the meeting?

A:

A detailed list of positions, programs and program representatives is available on the event webpage. Some programs have included a link to a pre-recorded video including introductory information about their program.

Q:

Do I have to sign up to attend a showcase booth?

A:

Yes. To allow program representatives the opportunity to prepare for the event and to make your time (and their time) efficient and effective, you will need to sign up for a 15-minute meeting slot. There is no strict deadline for when you need to sign up but some programs may choose not to staff their booth if they haven’t had anyone sign up.

Q:

How do I sign up to meet with program representatives?

A:

Visit the program position listing or your list of favorites. Click on “sign up, ” select from available timeslots, enter your name and email address. This program’s videoconference link and appointment will now show up on your personal agenda.

Q:

How long should I stay at each virtual booth?

A:

Sign-ups are in 15-minute increments. You may choose to spend that entire time in the booth or you may finish asking your questions more quickly. If you run out of time, ask the program director if they are available to talk with you at another time. Please be respectful and enter booths at the timeslot for which you’ve signed up – not too early or late. Similarly, please be respectful and exit the booth when your signup slot has ended unless invited to stay by program representatives.
