Faculty Member Participates in COVID-19 Clinical Care and Research

ACCP member Eric Wenzler, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCIDP, AAHIVP, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist at the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC), has been involved in the clinical care of patients afflicted with COVID-19, especially through UIC’s transplant infectious diseases consult service. In addition, he served as a co-Investigator on the PCORI funded HERO-HCQ study designed to evaluate the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in the prevention of COVID-19 among high risk healthcare workers. As chair of the website committee for the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, he plays an active role in analyzing and disseminating information regarding COVID-19.
