Former ACCP President Gary Yee, Professor and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), reports that University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy faculty and students have been producing hand sanitizer for UNMC and other local hospitals, clinics, and companies due to the persistent sanitizer shortage during the COVID-19 pandemic. ACCP member Jennifer Foster, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Science; and Gary Cochran, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Science, worked with students to produce hand sanitizer in the college of pharmacy’s compounding laboratory. They have produced hand sanitizer for UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute, the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, home care agencies, nursing homes, construction companies, dentist offices, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, training facilities, and UNMC maintenance facilities.
