ACCP Annual Meeting Resident/Fellow Travel Awards

ACCP offers travel stipends and/or complimentary meeting registrations to help defray the costs residents and fellows incur when traveling to attend an ACCP national meeting. Resident/Fellow Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Research Institute and are funded by the Resident/Fellow Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

Resident or fellow members of ACCP who are enrolled in a training program at the time of the meeting are invited to apply for the awards. Applicants will need to submit a completed application, a CV or resume, one letter of reference, and a 250-word essay. Questions? Contact ACCP at membership@accp.com.



PRN Annual Meeting Resident/Fellow Travel Awards

In addition to ACCP Resident/Fellow Travel Awards, the following PRNs also provide travel awards to defray costs associated with attending the ACCP Annual Meeting. Please see below for more information about each travel award, including eligibility and application deadlines.

NOTE: Each PRN Travel Award has its own application process separate from the ACCP Resident/Fellow Travel Award application above. If you applying for multiple travel awards, please be sure to submit an application for each travel award you are applying for.

Adult Medicine

Description
The Adult Medicine PRN is offering a $1000 award to go towards registration and travel expenses to ACCP Annual Meeting to provide an opportunity for a pharmacy resident or fellow to present and promote his or her current research efforts to the Adult Medicine PRN.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria:
  • A member of ACCP in good standing.
  • An Adult Medicine PRN member.
  • Conducted research in an area applicable to adult medicine.
  • Initiated the project during residency/fellowship and anticipate project completion by the ACCP Annual Meeting and within 1 year of completion of residency or fellowship training.
  • Committed to present results at the Adult Medicine PRN business meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting (~20 minute PowerPoint presentation).
Application Requirements
Submit an abstract (using ACCP guidelines available at www.accp.com) to the chair of the Adult Medicine PRN Training and Travel Awards Committee.
  • Submit an essay(500 word max) which addresses the following topics (include your name and residency or fellowship program): 1. The impact of your project on adult medicine pharmacy practice (include your name and residency program). 2. Why do you want to attend the ACCP Annual Meeting? 3. How will your attendance at the meeting impact your clinical practice? 4. Are you interested in taking a leadership role in the Adult Medicine PRN or presenting at an Adult Medicine PRN business meeting over the next five years? If so, please state your specific areas of interest in the PRN.

Ambulatory Care

Description
The Ambulatory Care PRN would like to encourage residents and fellows with an interest in Ambulatory Care to apply for a travel award that would help support attendance at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Cardiology

Description
The Cardiology PRN will award two travel grants in the amount of $500 each to partially support the costs associated with travel and attendance for one post-graduate trainee with an interest or focus in cardiology (i.e., residency, fellowship, or PhD program) who is still in training or has completed training within the past 6 months for the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
Candidates must be current members of ACCP who are either:
  • Post-graduate trainees currently in training, or have completed training within the past 6 months, in a residency, fellowship, or Ph.D. program.
Application Requirements
Each applicant may submit only one application in consideration for this award. Please submit a current CV, two letters of reference, and a one-page letter of intent to state your interest in cardiology (or the Cardiology PRN) and reasons for attending the ACCP Annual Meeting. All application materials should be submitted via email to Dr. Genevieve Hale. A selection committee organized by the current chair of the Cardiology PRN’s Student and Resident Committee will select award recipients. Those awarded a StuNet travel award will not be eligible for a Cardiology PRN award.

Description
The Clinical Administration PRN will award travel grants to partially support the costs of travel and attendance of 1 resident that is interested in Clinical Pharmacy Administration at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Be committed to attending the ACCP Annual Meeting and Clinical Administration PRN Business Meeting, where the candidate will present their administration project.

Critical Care

Description
The Critical Care PRN will award travel grants to partially support the costs of travel and attendance of up to 2 critical care fellows and/or residents to attend the ACCP Annual meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the resident/fellow travel award the candidate must:
  • Be a current member of the Critical Care PRN
  • Be currently completing training or have completed training within the past 6 months in a critical care residency or fellowship program (under the direction of a critical care PRN member), PGY-1 residency with a critical care research topic (under the direction of a critical care PRN member), or a current critical care PGY-2 resident or fellow who has completed a critical care related project during their PGY-1 year
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual ACCP meeting. For applicants who have completed training within the past 6 months, the research being presented must have been a project completed during their residency or fellowship program
Application Requirements
The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Critical Care PRN Awards Committee via email by the deadline stated in the call for abstracts. The abstracts will be scored individually by each member of the Travel Awards Committee, and the award will be granted to the abstract with the highest average score. If an abstract is submitted by a resident or fellow that is under the mentorship of a member of the awards committee, that committee member will recuse him or herself from scoring that abstract. In the case of a tie score, the award will be determined by consensus of the members of the Travel Awards Committee. For each award, the recipient will be required to present their poster during the Critical Care PRN Networking and Business Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Drug Information

Description
The Drug Information PRN will once again be offering a travel award in the amount of $500 for one resident/fellow who will be presenting a drug information-related poster or research at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ on October 7-10, 2017.

Eligibility
Applicants for the resident/fellow award should have recently completed a residency/fellowship program (2016-2017). The residency/fellowship program is not required to be a drug information specialty residency, but the topic to be presented must be DI related. Applicants must agree to attend and give a 10-minute presentation at the Drug Information PRN business meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ.
Application Requirements
The resident/fellow should submit the following: 1) a current CV 2) a 1-2 page project summary which outlines the background, data collected, analysis, and conclusions as applicable and 3) a description of how this project/activity is important to drug information specialists.

Education and Training

Description
The EDTR PRN travel scholarship is intended to provide partial financial support to a resident and/or fellow to the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
The applicant must be a PGY-1 or PGY-2 resident or fellow member of the EDTR PRN. The recipient must be able to attend the EDTR PRN Business & Networking Meeting on the evening of Sunday or Monday, October 8th or 9th at the Phoenix Convention Center/Sheraton Grand Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ. The recipient will be required to briefly comment on their experiences with ACCP, what they hope to gain or gained from attending the Annual Meeting and their interest in education and training at the EDTR PRN business meeting.
Application Requirements
The following items must be submitted by the specified deadline: 1) A 500 word essay describing why the applicant is involved with the EDTR PRN and how attending the Annual Meeting will assist with the applicant's career/residency goals. The applicant is encouraged to highlight involvement relevant to leadership, research, ACCP/PRN involvement and activities indicating an interest in education. 2) A current CV, highlighting experiences related to education and training and ACCP activities at the school, regional, PRN and national level; and 3) two letters of recommendation which are encouraged to highlight the applicant’s interaction and interest in the EDTR PRN, how they envision the travel award with help the trainee achieve their career goals, and the trainee’s involvement in research and ACCP. The candidate is welcome to apply simultaneously for other travel awards from ACCP or other PRNs and this information will not be considered by the EDTR in the evaluation of the trainee’s application. However, the EDTR’s travel award will not be awarded to a recipient who has accepted either an ACCP general travel award or another PRN’s travel award (i.e., the recipient must determine if they wish to accept the EDTR travel award or another ACCP-based travel award if more than one is offered).

Endocrine and Metabolism

Description
The Endocrine & Metabolism (E/M) PRN grant is intended to provide financial support for one resident or fellow attending the ACCP Annual Meeting, being held in sunny Phoenix, AZ this October 7 – 10, 2017.

Description

Nephrology

Description
The Nephrology PRN will award one trainee grant (to a student, resident, or fellow) to partially support the cost of travel and attendance at the ACCP Annual meeting. NOTE: Only one travel award will be granted. It will be awarded to either a student OR a resident/fellow.

Eligible resident/fellow candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a resident or fellow member of ACCP. Preference will be given to those who are members of the Nephrology PRN or who are completing a nephrology-focused residency or fellowship.
  • Be currently training or have completed training within the past 12 months, in a nephrology residency or fellowship program, PGY-1 residency with a nephrology-focused research or clinical topic, or a PGY-2 residency or fellowship who has completed a nephrology-related project during the PGY-1 or PGY2 years.
  • Be able to attend the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting and provide a brief presentation (~10 minutes) of their research or clinical project.
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit: (1) a current CV, (2) letter of intent (750 words maximum) which describes the applicant’s interest in nephrology and, if applicable, the project he/she plans to present at the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking Meeting, (3) one letter of recommendation from either a clinical pharmacy practitioner or School of Pharmacy faculty member (letters from ACCP members recommended, if possible), and (4) a copy of the abstract submitted for presentation at ACCP annual meeting, if applicable. Pain and Palliative Care

Description
The Pain and Palliative Care PRN will award 2 travel grants in the amount of $500 each. The PRN will have the option of distributing the grants to either students, residents, or fellows based on the quality of the individual applications, and not the level of training. If selected, the applicant will give a brief presentation on the subject of pain management and/or palliative care at the Pain and Palliative Care PRN Business & Networking Meeting at the 2017 ACCP Annual Meeting.

To be eligible to apply for the Pediatrics PRN Resident/Fellow Travel Award the candidate must: -Be a current member of the ACCP Pediatrics PRN -Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual ACCP meeting. For applicants who have completed their training within the past 6 months, the research being presented must have been a project completed during their residency or fellowship program. -Completed application (see call for submissions on PRN listserv) including accepted abstract, candidate statement, CV, letters of support -Be a current pharmacy resident or fellow, defined as currently completing training or have completed training within the past 6 months in a pediatric pharmacy residency or fellowship program (under the direction of a Pediatric PRN member), PGY-1 residency with a Pediatric research topic (under the direction of a Pediatrics PRN member), or a Pediatrics PGY-2 resident or pediatric fellow who has completed a Pediatrics research project during their PGY-1 year.

Description
The Women’s Health PRN offers travel awards for one student, one resident/fellow, and one full member of the Women's Health PRN. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements, and are selected by the Award’s Committee. The $300 award is to provide partial support for registration and/or travel related expenses (flight, hotel, food).
