New Dates and Times for PRN Business and Networking Forums at the 2010 Spring Forum

ACCP’s PRNs provide a focal point for clinical pharmacists with common interests and needs in practice, research, and education. PRN members help ACCP develop educational programs and promote the activities of the PRNs.

In a departure from the traditional two-evening schedule for PRN business meetings and networking forums, the Spring Forum in Charlotte will provide meeting registrants the opportunity to attend a greater number of PRN meetings during a 3-day period. A complete listing of PRN business meetings and networking forums is given below.

Saturday, April 24, 2010
12:30 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
Hilton Charlotte Center Hotel

Adult Medicine
Gwynn Room
During this business meeting and networking forum, current and prospective members will have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas. There will also be a business meeting followed by a research presentation.

Ambulatory Care PRN
North Carolina Room
The purpose of this meeting is to disseminate information, discuss the PRN status, and provide networking opportunities.

Clinical Administration PRN
Graham Room
This business meeting will include reports from the Board of Regents, PRN Officers Meeting, and Secretary/Treasurer, as well as a review of new business items.

Education and Training PRN
South Carolina Room
The Education and Training PRN is offering a very brief business meeting followed by a small-group, interactive hands-on workshop titled "Best of Both Worlds: Incorporating Research into Your Clinical Practice." Available for 1.0 contact hour of continuing education credit. A light lunch will be provided.

Pediatrics PRN
Dunn Room
Come join the Pediatrics PRN for a fun icebreaker, a business meeting, and then a discussion forum about pediatric postgraduate education. We will discuss the status of pediatric residencies and fellowships; debate the pros and cons of PGY1 with pediatric emphasis and PGY1 plus PGY2 pediatric specialty; and think about the future of pediatrics and postgraduate education.

Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics PRN
Walker Room
This will be a networking forum for PRN members and guests to discuss current issues in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics. Time will be allocated for members to discuss potential topics for PRN symposia at upcoming ACCP meetings and other topics relevant to the PRN.

Nephrology PRN
Johnson Room
This will be a casual meeting open to all ACCP members. There will be a brief business report and then a discussion of the current projects and initiatives of the Nephrology PRN. The remainder of the meeting will be dedicated to networking and social activities, and a light lunch will be provided.

Cardiology PRN
Carolina Hall
Join us for the Cardiology PRN business meeting, followed by research presentations by current residents and fellows. An informal reception will ensue, allowing networking with new and old members, members collaborating on PRN-related projects, and trainees looking for job opportunities.

Central Nervous System PRN

Please join the Central Nervous System PRN for a business meeting and networking session with your colleagues. Light snacks and drinks will be served.

Geriatrics PRN
Graves Room
Please join the Geriatrics PRN for a business meeting and for networking with colleagues, as well as friendly discussion and a debate of current topics relevant to the care of older adults.

Health Outcomes PRN
Johnson Room
Please join the Health Outcomes PRN for our business meeting and networking forum; members and interested meeting attendees are welcome to attend! We will discuss past and future PRN activities including 2010–2011 Strategic Planning. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Critical Care PRN

Join the Critical Care PRN networking forum and interact with colleagues while enjoying hors d’oeuvres. Presentations will include a summary of PRN activities, reports from PRN officers, and the Resident/Fellow Research Travel Award.

Drug Information PRN
Graves Room
The Drug Information PRN will hold a business meeting and networking forum for current and prospective members. The meeting will include an update of PRN activities, and it will provide an opportunity to meet the officers and other PRN members and to become involved with the PRN.

Infectious Diseases PRN
South Carolina Room
The Infectious Diseases PRN Business Meeting will include a discussion of current PRN initiatives as well as planned activities for future meetings.

Pharmaceutical Industry PRN
Gwynn Room
The Pharmaceutical Industry PRN business meeting and networking forum will include 30 minutes for networking, a brief report from each of the standing committees, and an opportunity for working groups to convene and strategize next steps. All ACCP members with interest are welcome to attend.
