The Research Institute held a very successful event in Louisville called “There’s
a new GIG in town,” so-named because it was a chance to see all the upgrades that
have been made at the Research Institute to serve the needs of ACCP’s clinical pharmacy
professionals. Presentations were made by 2008 Focused Investigator Training (FIT)
Program mentors and mentees, who, along with a distinguished panel of ACCP members,
later discussed the new ACCP National Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) initiative,
the ACCP Research and Scholarship Academy Program, and the new PPD Bioanalytical
Tissue and Sample Grant Award. Information regarding these programs can be found
at the new ACCP Research Institute Web site
http://www.accpri.org.
The “GIG” in the event title was also a play on words, as those in attendance received
a 1-gigabyte flash band simply for making a $100 on-site donation to the Frontiers
Fund.
We are pleased to extend this gift-with-donation offer through November 2008,
while supplies last. You will receive your Gig flash band, embossed with the ACCP
Research Institute logo, by making a donation of at least $100 online at
www.accpri.org/donate. Limit one per member, please, and allow 4 weeks for
delivery.
Please see the remarks nearby, made by past ACCP President Brad Boucher and titled
“Time, Talent, and Treasure,” for one person’s perspectives on the impact of donating
to the Frontiers Fund. Your donation in 2008–2009 will support initiatives such
as the new FIT Program and the forthcoming ACCP National Practice-Based Research
Network (PBRN). Thank you for your support as we “Go Forward.”
