BPS Board Positions Announced

Evans Joins BPS Board—Pieper to Serve as Chair-Elect

Past ACCP president and current ACCP member William E. Evans, Pharm.D., FCCP, will serve as a non–board-certified pharmacist member of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Board of Directors. Dr. Evans is director and chief executive officer of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Under his leadership, St. Jude has expanded its research in drug discovery, cancer survivorship, cancer genomics, and personalized medicine. Dr. Evans’ research interests include exploring the pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenomics of anticancer agents in children and the mechanisms underlying differences in drug effects among children. He is a fellow of ACCP, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Dr. Evans has served in roles with the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and as a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

John A. Pieper, Pharm.D., FCCP, also a past president and current ACCP member, was elected as the 2014 chair-elect of the BPS Board of Directors. Dr. Pieper is president and professor at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Before assuming his current position in 2010, he served as dean and professor of the College of Pharmacy and vice president for research at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Dr. Pieper is a past Speaker of the House of Delegates of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and was recognized by the American Pharmacists Association as the Outstanding Pharmacy Dean in the United States in 2006.
