Dahdal Joins ACCP as Associate Director of Professional Development

Wafa Y. Dahdal, Pharm.D., BCPS (AQ Cardiology), has been named ACCP Associate Director of Professional Development after a national search conducted this fall. She will oversee the planning, development, and delivery of key components of the College’s professional development products and services, including the Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment Program (PSAP) and the ACCP Academy.

Dr. Dahdal received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed residency training at St. Louis University Hospital. She has served on the faculty of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and the Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, where she was professor of pharmacy practice before joining ACCP. Dr. Dahdal has been a member of ACCP since 1994 and has served as president of the Gateway College of Clinical Pharmacy and on numerous ACCP committees. She currently serves as secretary of the Academic Pharmacy Section and member of the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. She has presented and published on issues related to cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, curricular reform, global standards for pharmacy education, ability-based education, and active learning.

“I’m excited about joining ACCP and look forward to contributing to the College’s development of new and innovative professional development services for clinical pharmacists,” Dahdal commented. “As a current and past subscriber to PSAP and other ACCP services, I have a real appreciation for the need to provide high-quality, cutting-edge products that will be useful to clinicians, educators, and researchers. It is a distinct pleasure for me to serve the College as a member of its staff.”

“We are thrilled to have Wafa join our staff and help lead the development and enhancement of ACCP’s professional development offerings,” noted ACCP Director of Professional Development Nancy Perrin. “She brings a wealth of clinical and academic experience to this position. In addition, as member of the College, she shares ACCP’s professional vision and core values.” Dr. Dahdal will join the ACCP staff on January 12, 2009.
