Pharmacogenomics: Applications to Patient Care, Third Edition

Now available for preorder, Pharmacogenomics: Applications to Patient Care, Third Edition, contains up-to-date information on the most exciting and pioneering component of pharmaceutical research.

The innovative field of pharmacogenomics offers patients the opportunity to receive the correct medication and dose according to their particular genetic makeup, thus avoiding adverse drug reactions or no reaction at all. To that end, ACCP published the first edition of Pharmacogenomics: Applications to Patient Care in 2004, which combined the basics of pharmacogenomics with disease-specific applications to give students and practitioners an understanding of the science of pharmacogenomics and the skills to integrate pharmacogenomics into their daily clinical practice. The second edition contained enhanced chapters on the science and clinical management of pharmacogenomics, written by leaders in applied pharmacogenomics.

Now, for ACCP’s third edition of Pharmacogenomics, the focus shifts to the implementation of these pharmacogenomic tests into clinical practice, with clinical cases guiding the implementation process. Whereas the first two editions focused on an exhaustive literature review for each topic, the third edition highlights the genetic variants that are currently ready to be translated into practice. Individuals from different practice areas, disciplines, and research environments participated in the publication of the new edition of Pharmacogenomics in an effort to provide actionable steps that can be used in practice as the era of personalized medicine continues to advance.

Edited by Julie A. Johnson, Vicki L. Ellingrod, Deanna L. Kroetz, and Grace M. Kuo, the third edition of Pharmacogenomics: Applications to Patient Care delivers groundbreaking contributions from the field of pharmacogenomics research.
