Available this month in the ACCP bookstore are three new titles and a new edition of a familiar text.

Anyone looking for a comprehensive introduction to epidemiology will benefit from Clinical Epidemiology: The Essentials, fourth edition, by Robert H. Fletcher, M.D., MSc, and Suzanne W. Fletcher, M.D., MSc. Here is a practical approach to observing and assessing outcomes in similar patient types and then applying this knowledge to the improvement of patient care. The fourth edition has been redesigned with new illustrations, pedagogical tools, examples, and summary boxes. This text is a valuable tool for all pharmacy students.

Ethical Issues in Biomedical Publication, edited by Anne Hudson Jones and Faith McLellan, is an exceptional resource for training researchers in the highest standards of sound, ethical scientific research. Focusing on publication ethics as an essential aspect of responsible scientific conduct, Ethical Issues in Biomedical Publication examines a variety of troublesome issues including authorship, peer review, repetitive publication, conflict of interest, and electronic publishing. Among the contributors to this volume are the editors of distinguished biomedical journals, humanities scholars, scientists, lawyers, and a university administrator. This is an essential reference for biomedical researchers, authors, editors, and teachers of research ethics.

Pharmacotherapy Principles & Practice, by Marie A. Chisholm-Burns, Barbara G. Wells, Terry L. Schwinghammer, Patrick M. Malone, Jill M. Kolesar, John C. Rotschafer, and Joseph T. DiPiro, covers the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and treatment of more than 100 disease states. The book is organized in an easy-to-follow disorder-based structure that surveys the full range of organ system disorders treated in pharmacy practice. The use of case-based examples aids in the development of critical thinking and helps illustrate the clinical relevance of each topic. Features include knowledge-building boxed elements consisting of clinical presentation and diagnosis, patient encounters, and patient care and monitoring guidelines. Anyone—from students starting their first therapeutics courses to practitioners—who needs access to key points of pharmacotherapy information should add this title to their library. Online resources are also available for additional value.

Also new this month is the seventh edition of Pharmacotherapy Handbook by Barbara G. Wells, Joseph T. DiPiro, Terry L. Schwinghammer, and Cecily V. DiPiro. This text is well known for delivering the essential information needed to quickly and confidently make drug therapy decisions.
