Home Study Programs for Recertification Credit Available November 1

The Clinical Reasoning Series programs, to be presented live at the 2018 Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy, will be available for home study on November 1. The deadline to submit the posttest is December 31, 2018. Both programs will offer board specialty recertification credit in multiple specialties upon successful completion of the online posttests. The home study editions will include audio/slide-synchronized presentations, MP3 audio files, PDF files of the handouts, and associated documents.   • Clinical Reasoning Series in Critical Care Pharmacy: The 2018 PADIS Guideline: Boosting Efforts to Reduce Pain, Oversedation, Delirium, Immobility, and Disrupted Sleep in the ICU will offer Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) recertification credit.
  • Clinical Reasoning Series in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy: It’s Not a Sprint, It’s a Marathon: Keeping Up with Hypertension Management will offer Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) recertification credit.

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Critical Care Pharmacy program, The 2018 PADIS Guideline: Boosting Efforts to Reduce Pain, Oversedation, Delirium, Immobility, and Disrupted Sleep in the ICU, will provide an in-depth analysis of current strategies for managing protocols for mobilization and rehabilitation as well as for promoting quality sleep in the ICU. As practices continue to advance, it is important to understand the clinical pharmacist’s role in optimal patient care. The content of this program will expand on the new 2018 PADIS guidelines and provide practical approaches to implementation. Sessions will cover the following topics:

  • PADIS Guideline Methods: Innovation and Interpretation Considerations
  • PADIS Guideline: Informing ABCDEF Bundle Use and Quality Improvement Efforts
  • Comfort Is King: A Protocolized Approach to Pain Recognition and Multimodal Treatment
  • Strategies to Maintain Patient Wakefulness
  • Delirium Recognition and Reduction: Reducing the Confusion
  • Creating a Culture of Rehabilitation and Mobilization
  • Improving Sleep Quality in the Critically Ill

The program has been approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) for 6.0 hours of recertification credit for both BCCCP and BCPS certificants.

BCACP, BCPS Credit

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy session, It’s Not a Sprint, It’s a Marathon: Keeping Up with Hypertension Management, will provide a detailed analysis of current strategies for the treatment of patients with hypertensive conditions, as well as discuss the implications for pharmacists’ patient care services. Sessions will cover the following content:

  • Contemporary Management of Hypertension: Comparing the Recent Guidelines
  • Treating Hypertension in Special Patient Populations
  • Strategies for Managing Resistant Hypertension
  • Treatment of Hypertensive Urgencies in the Outpatient Setting

The program has been approved by BPS for 6.0 hours of recertification credit for both BCACP and BCPS certificants.
