ACCP Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN)

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy Practice-Based Research Network (ACCP PBRN) was established in 2010 as the first national clinical pharmacy PBRN. Since that time, the ACCP PBRN has grown to now include over 1,000 clinical pharmacists from across all 50 United States who deliver clinical pharmacy services at a variety of academic, community, inpatient, outpatient, and other practice settings. Together, these individuals form a nationwide network to drive collaborative, multi-center, practice-based clinical pharmacy research that advances health care.

Network studies are further supported by a robust research infrastructure that provides expert services for a number of research activities, including (but not limited to):

  • Practice site recruitment and start-up
  • Site training
  • Central and local IRB approvals
  • Development and testing of data collection tools
  • Administration of secure, centralized data collection systems
  • Management of data collection across multiple sites
  • Data analysis
  • Manuscript preparation

Members of ACCP may join the ACCP PBRN at no cost by completing the network’s membership registry survey, which can be found on the ACCP Research Institute Web site: The registry helps the network describe participating ACCP members’ clinical sites, as well as their practice and research experiences.

Participation in collaborative research conducted through the ACCP PBRN is always open to any individuals meeting a given study’s eligibility criteria. Completion of the ACCP PBRN membership registry survey is not a prerequisite to participating in studies conducted in collaboration with the network.

To find out about opportunities to participate in research developed and conducted through the network, as well as other PBRN activities, please sign up for our e-mail distribution list or visit our Web site to view current studies:

Opportunities to work with the ACCP PBRN are not solely limited to clinicians. Researchers who have ideas for practice-based studies are highly encouraged to contact the PBRN staff as early as possible about a potential for collaboration. The ACCP PBRN may provide the following pre-award support free of cost:

  • Assistance with protocol development
  • Budget preparation
  • Feasibility assessment
  • Preparing Letters of Support

Investigators are asked to complete the “ACCP PBRN Project Concept Description”, which can be found on the Web: Completed forms can be e-mailed directly to PBRN staff at
