A Message from the Editor

Dear Colleagues:

Furthering the dialogue on the need to clarify the roles and expectations of pharmacists in their evolving roles in patient-centered services, the article titled “U.S. Pharmacy Organizations Release Joint Process of Care for Pharmacists” describes a resource document approved by a commission of pharmacy organizations representing pharmacy educators and practitioners practicing across different health care settings. The release of this joint document, as well as of the Standards of Practice for Clinical Pharmacists (ACCP International Clinical Pharmacist 2014;4(1):1-2), underscores the significance of and need for standardization in pharmacy education and practice. This is even more imperative when considering the greater discrepancies in pharmacist education and services across world regions and around the globe.

This issue features several of ACCP’s international initiatives and activities, including participation in international congresses and meetings, as well as various new and upcoming educational offerings addressing topical health care, pharmacist practice, and educational issues.

I hope you will find the resources highlighted in this issue of ACCP International Clinical Pharmacist of value in your continuing professional development efforts.

Sincerely,

Wafa Y. Dahdal, Pharm.D., BCPS
