ACCP Expands Roles for Post-Graduate Trainee Members

In an effort to expand opportunities for professional growth and leadership opportunities within the college, ACCP has established a new standing committee. The National Resident Advisory Committee provides postgraduate trainees the means to enhance their leadership skills, network with their colleagues from across the country, and interact with clinical pharmacy leaders. Members of the committee have an integral role in the development of new programs and services for postgraduate trainee members, including live programming specific for post-graduate trainees at the Annual Meeting. Committee service and chairmanship is a common pathway toward future leadership positions within ACCP.

The ACCP National Resident Advisory Committee is composed of 8-12 postgraduate trainee members of the College appointed by the ACCP President-Elect. Members generally serve a 1-year term. The committee meets in person at the College’s Annual Meeting in October and communicates via conference calls and e-mail to complete its assigned charges. Appointees to the National Resident Advisory Committee receive a complimentary meeting registration to attend the ACCP Annual Meeting held during their committee term.

Postgraduate trainee members interested in serving on the ACCP National Resident Advisory Committee can apply for appointment to a leadership position, or can serve as a member-at-large. Members-at-large are selected based upon their responses to the ACCP Member Volunteer Survey. The survey identifies an individual’s interest to serve on a particular committee, as well as attributes he/she would contribute to achieving the committee’s charges. The ACCP Member Volunteer Survey is distributed every summer. Applications for committee leadership positions are due Friday, June 18, 2010.
