Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc. (PPI) had another successful year and is closing 2016 with several noteworthy accomplishments. Our journal, Pharmacotherapy, has received a record number of submissions this year (more than 800 to date), and article downloads have peaked at over 300,000. We have expanded our scientific editors group with the addition of two new members, and the 2015 impact factor has maintained a solid 2.592. A new process of recognizing outstanding reviewers to the journal was established, and four such outstanding reviewers were recognized at the 2016 ACCP Annual Meeting. After 36 years of the same cover, we will unveil a fresh look and new cover to the journal in January 2017.

In line with one of our strategic priorities to expand the journal’s global reach, in 2017, we will welcome 10 new international editorial board members spanning countries such as Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the UK. In addition, our non-North American global readership and institutional sales have increased.

One of our additional objectives has been to increase PPI’s presence within ACCP meetings and on social media. To this end, we have published an “Inside the Journal“ feature in the ACCP Report every other month and continued our involvement in ACCP’s Annual Meeting through educational programming and a joint PPI and Research Institute open house. We have continued to encourage PRNs to solicit quality submissions from members with efforts such as outreach to the PRN chairs at the 2016 Annual Meeting by our editor-in-chief. We are highlighting key Pharmacotherapy papers on a regular basis through the ACCP website, PPI website, social media, and press releases. We are also planning for monthly podcasts in 2017. We have over 1000 followers on Twitter. Please follow us @PharmacoJournal to receive links to new articles and resources for reviewers and authors.

These are just a few key accomplishments that promoted the strategic priorities to advance pharmacotherapy, support scholars, and enhance PPI’s publications and services in 2016. The PPI BOD looks forward to building on this foundation to accomplish even more in 2017.
