Written by Edith A. Nutescu, Pharm.D., M.S., FCCP
Chair, PPI Board of Directors

Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc. (PPI), the organization that oversees the publication of ACCP’s official journal, Pharmacotherapy, will undergo a change in leadership in January 2017. Edith A. Nutescu, Pharm.D., M.S., current chair of the PPI Board of Directors (BOD), is completing her term as board chair and will pass the leadership baton to Leigh Ann Ross, Pharm.D., past member of the ACCP Board of Regents and PPI BOD.

Over the past 2 years, Nutescu has led the PPI BOD through the development and implementation of a new strategic plan. She has collaborated closely with the Pharmacotherapy editor-in-chief, BOD members, and PPI staff to extend Pharmacotherapy’s global editorial scope, increase the number of products and resources offered by PPI, and provide developmental opportunities for clinical pharmacy scholars. As she ends her term at the end of 2016, Nutescu notes:

It has been an honor to serve as chair of the Board of Directors and lead PPI through the strategic planning process. We have made great strides over the last 2 years in widening the journal’s editorial scope to now include international editorial board members and expand our programs to support clinical pharmacy scholars. In addition, we are unveiling a fresh look and new cover for the journal starting with the January 2017 issue. While much has been accomplished, many great things are to come. I can’t think of a more capable leader than Dr. Ross to serve as the next chair of the BOD. The future of PPI is in great hands.

Ross is associate dean for clinical affairs at the University of Mississippi (UM) School of Pharmacy. As associate dean, she serves as the school’s liaison with the UM Medical Center and oversees the school’s clinical programs and partnerships. Ross is director of the community-based research program and principal investigator of medication management projects in Mississippi communities. She also serves as a PGY1 community-based pharmacy residency program director. Ross completed a congressional fellowship in the office of U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran and is a former president of the Mississippi Pharmacists Association and the Mississippi Biotechnology Association. She is an invited member of the National Academies of Practice and a fellow of ACCP and ASHP. In preparing to assume the BOD chair position on January 1, Ross commented:

Dr. Nutescu provided extraordinary leadership as chair of the PPI Board of Directors. We hope to build on the successes of PPI and Pharmacotherapy in the coming year to further expand and increase the visibility of PPI products and services, further develop clinical pharmacist scholarship opportunities, and fully engage all stakeholders to ensure high quality in all aspects of PPI’s work. This is an exciting time for PPI and ACCP, and I look forward to serving in this role.

The other members of the PPI BOD are Jerry Bauman, Lindsay DeVane, Brian Hemstreet, Michael Maddux, and William Miller.
