ACCP affinity groups represent social identity frameworks and create additional opportunity for interaction with ACCP members who may share similar self-identified personal/social traits. Review the current Affinity Group descriptions below. There is no cost to join an Affinity Group but you must be an ACCP member.
MENA Affinity Group
The MENA Affinity Group is a community for ACCP members of Middle Eastern and North African heritage and their allies. The group provides a space to come together to develop community by creating positive, inclusive relationships and engaging in meaningful community-building. Through collaboration in clinical practice, education, research, and service, the MENA affinity group aims to foster mentorship, amplify shared scholarship, and advance culturally informed approaches to patient care within clinical pharmacy.
The Black Diaspora Affinity Group
The Black Diaspora Affinity Group is a welcoming and supportive community for ACCP members who identify as Black and/or African American. This group is designed to foster connection, mentorship, and learning among colleagues who may share similar lived experiences. We hope this community strengthens belonging and supports members as they navigate their professional journeys in clinical pharmacy with confidence, encouragement, and purpose.
ACCP affinity groups are intended to represent social identity frameworks and create additional opportunity for interaction with ACCP members who may share similar self-identified personal/social traits. They are not intended to represent professional interests (e.g., practice areas) as those are represented within ACCP Practice Research Networks (PRNs). Affinity groups may develop and operate informally. For those seeking ACCP support or resources, a formalized process for recognition of the affinity group has been created. Initial steps in that process include identification of a group leader and completion of this application. Applications for new affinity groups will be reviewed at least quarterly by the ACCP DEIA Committee and approved by the ACCP Board of Regents. Examples of groups that met at prior ACCP Annual Meetings include Latino/a/x, Asian/Pacific Islanders, LGBTQIA+, and individuals with Disabilities/Chronic Illness. These and other groups are invited to submit an application. Application details and requirements can be found by clicking on the "Learn More/Apply" button below.
An affinity group’s longevity may match the needs of the group. Groups may be formed for a particular purpose and then disperse after the collective goal has been achieved. They may also be reformed again later if new goals arise. Affinity groups utilizing ACCP resources and support will be reviewed every two years by the DEIA committee for ongoing engagement. At minimum, affinity groups should demonstrate a planned engagement at annual meeting and at least one other engagement activity yearly for ongoing access to ACCP support and resources. Engagement should reflect the needs of the group and may be synchronous or asynchronous.
