A Message from the Editor

Dear Colleagues:

The featured article in this issue of ACCP International Clinical Pharmacist, titled “Securing Trust – Revalidation for Pharmacy Professionals in Great Britain,” describes the General Pharmaceutical Council’s standards for pharmacy professionals. In addition, it describes a revalidation process launched by the council in 2018 to ensure continued public trust in the pharmacy profession. Revalidation is based on the continuing professional development activities that the individual pharmacist participates in each year.

The 2019 ACCP International Symposium will focus on antimicrobial resistance. This 1-day, highly interactive program, to be held on September 13 in London, will offer participants a unique opportunity for networking with like-minded colleagues from across the globe, appraise the most up-to-date evidence on the subject, and identify optimal strategies for treating patients with multidrug-resistant infections.

Also related to infectious diseases is the title featured in the Book Highlights department: HIV and Hepatitis. This book is the first of six releases to be published under the Infectious Diseases Self-Assessment Program (IDSAP) in 2019–2021. Designed for the advanced practitioner and covering a broad spectrum of infectious diseases and topical practice issues, IDSAP is the go-to resource for all pharmacists caring for patients with infectious disease and managing or overseeing antimicrobial stewardship programs.

ACCP will travel abroad again this September, exhibiting at the 2019 FIP congress in Abu Dhabi, UAE. If you will be attending, stop by the ACCP booth. We will be there for the duration of the congress.

Sincerely,

Wafa Y. Dahdal, Pharm.D.
