Abstract
The mission of the Global Health PRN is to promote the role of clinical pharmacy through developing programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of members; fostering collaborative connections; advancing global health training opportunities; and sharing best practices for education, practice, research, and ethical engagement. We envision a healthcare landscape in which thoughtful, context-inclusive, resource-efficient care for transnational health issues is provided through interprofessional and interinstitutional partnerships.
The Global Health PRN has a diverse membership, with approximately 10% of members based in countries outside the United States. Our community is predominantly comprised of professionals working in academia and health systems, particularly in fields like Infectious Diseases, Ambulatory Care, Family Medicine, and Rural Health. With active engagement in countries such as South Africa, Honduras, Belize, Peru, Namibia, and Taiwan, our network fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange on a global scale. Our membership demonstrates exceptional productivity, consistently generating high-impact scholarship, securing grants, and actively participating in conferences worldwide.
This year, the Global Health PRN has placed a strong emphasis on enhancing trainee engagement and fostering partnerships to enrich the global health community. To achieve these objectives, we have implemented a series of initiatives tailored to empower trainees and facilitate collaboration. These include the creation of a comprehensive member resource list and providing invaluable support and guidance to aspiring professionals. Furthermore, we have established a directory of short-term global health opportunities, enabling members to actively participate in impactful global health projects. Additionally, we plan to develop programming such as global health career pathway sessions, designed to educate and inspire students about the diverse opportunities available in these fields. Through these strategic efforts, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of pharmacists who are equipped to address the complex challenges of global health.
