Background:
The ACCP Women's Health Practice and Research Network (PRN) is dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and scholarship in women’s health. We have grown to include 228 members, with 71 students, 18 residents, and 4 fellows actively involved. The Student, Resident, & Fellow Committee plays a critical role in these efforts, consisting of 15 active members ranging from P1 to PGY1. This committee, led by the PRN’s Student Liaison, is instrumental in driving key initiatives within the PRN.
Initiatives and Achievements:
One significant accomplishment has been enhancing the PRN’s social media presence. Since the launch of the PRN’s new Instagram account (@accpwomnprn) in May 2024, the account has reached over 3,500 users and garnered 184 followers. Twelve committee members create weekly posts, selecting topics of personal interest, creating engaging graphics, and developing interactive multiple-choice questions to further audience engagement.
In April 2024, the committee successfully organized a virtual Women’s Health Career Panel featuring seven pharmacist panelists and attracting 116 participants. A variety of pharmacists were included on the panel, including clinical areas of gender-affirming care, infertility treatment, and obstetrics pharmacy. Committee members played key roles in designing promotional materials, moderating the event, and developing questions for the panelists.
Future Directions:
Looking ahead, the committee plans to sustain and grow its initiatives. This includes continuing the annual Women’s Health Panel, enhancing social media engagement, hosting a Journal Club in October, and launching a LinkedIn account. Additionally, the committee will remain involved in the PRN’s quarterly newsletter, where members contribute articles.
