Abstract
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is an overarching term to describe over two hundred unique inflammatory disorders with or without fibrosis of the lung parenchyma. Treatment of ILD is determined by the cause and classification of the disease. The purpose of this poster is to present the work in-progress by the Pulmonary Practice and Research Network (Pulm PRN). This poster highlights elements from the first manuscript within a two-part project. The first manuscript summarizes the most common approaches to managing ILD dependent on its diagnoses and classifications. It also provides clinical pearls for pharmacists and researchers to help improve treatment outcomes in patients living with ILD. Patient access to some of the medications to treat ILD (e.g., antifibrotic therapy, investigational drugs) may be particularly difficult. Pathways are listed to help support patients’ access to these medications. By working together through the Pulmonary PRN, authors hope to provide a useful tool for clinical pharmacists caring for a patient with interstitial lung disease.
