Abstract
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Community-Based Practice and Research Network (CB-PRN) was established in 2021 to support pharmacists who strive to advance community practice, advocate for the profession and optimize patient outcomes. We facilitate collaboration and networking, provide education and support research for students, residents, and established practitioners alike. We also provide representation and expertise on behalf of ACCP in multiple areas of healthcare policy reform, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Studies (CMS) Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program Draft as well as the Pharmacy Quality Alliance’s (PQA) “Quality Innovation and Research Initiative to Advance Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Quality Measurement.” The Communications Committee coordinates all PRN communications and publishes The Quarterly Dose, our membership newsletter which regularly features member spotlights and updates on new drug products, guidelines and legislative issues. The Programming Committee facilitates our annual PRN Focus Session and as well as our quarterly educational webinar series. This year’s series provided sessions on research and grantsmanship and a joint session in collaboration with the Health Equity PRN focused on effective ways community pharmacists can address social determinants of health in their patients. The CB-PRN not only collaborates with other PRNs but also the Academia-Community Transformation (ACT) Pharmacy Collaborative, the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network (CPESN), and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). The Awards and Nominations Committee is responsible for slating candidates for College and PRN offices as well as our four (Outstanding Educator, Clinical Innovation, Esteemed New Practitioner, Outstanding Paper) awards. An ad-hoc committee was formed to write a PRN Opinion Paper on the history of and future directions MTM in community-based pharmacy to help inform ACCP’s advocacy initiatives. Lastly, the newly established Membership committee has been recruiting new members through cross-promotional efforts pharmacy professional organizations as well as chain and independent pharmacy leaders.
