Learn MoreAvailable for 2.00 hours of CPE creditActivity Number: 0217-9999-25-153-L01-PActivity Type: An Application-Based ActivityThis session will provide attendees with necessary background and data surrounding the incorporation of targeted agents to aid in effectively managing gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies. Mutations, particularly targeted mutations, are of great interest in a variety of malignancies, in an effort to improve outcome while minimizing adverse events. With the increased incorporation of targeted agents across disease states, it is vital for oncology pharmacists to remain updated and knowledgeable of the literature surrounding the use of these targeted agents and where they fit into treatment options for patients. Targets of interest specific to GI malignancies include PD1, dMMR/MSI-H, HER2, BRAF, and the novel CLDN18.2 mutation. While reviewing these targets, the presenters will evaluate how (or at least what is theorized) these mutations contribute to GI malignancy development/growth, the prevalence of these mutations, when to test for them, and finally, what evidence there is to support the use of targeted agents in the overall management strategy of GI malignancies.
The BCOP Clinical Sessions are part of the professional development program for the recertification of Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacists by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties and jointly provided by ACCP and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). In order to earn the BCOP recertification credit, participants must attend the session, claim the continuing pharmacy education credit, and pass the associated posttest. Access to the Clinical Sessions posttests will be available on December 17, 2025, at www.accp.com/myaccount to anyone who has purchased access to the BCOP posttests. For participants who have not purchased access to the posttests, access can be purchased until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, at the ACCP Registration Desk. The deadline to submit posttests for these sessions will be December 15, 2026.
