Whole Person Care is Better Care: A Drive towards Pharmacoequity

The purpose of this 1.5-hour session, sponsored by the 2025 ACCP DEIA Committee, is to demonstrate that an inclusive and equitable approach to care is relevant to all clinical pharmacy practice. The session will feature a diverse panel of clinical experts from various practice areas, including adult medicine, ambulatory care, and infectious diseases. Each panelist will share their clinical experiences and insights on how whole person care and pharmacoequity can lead to better care outcomes. They will discuss the clinical barriers to care, social determinants of health, cultural factors, and potential disparities that influence patient care in their respective practice settings. Additionally, the panelists will identify evidence-based approaches to promote optimal patient outcomes and advance health-equity research.

Learning Objectives

1. Define principles of whole person care and pharmacoequity.

2. Discuss clinical barriers to care, social determinants of health, cultural factors, and potential disparities that influence patient care in a variety of pharmacy practice settings.

3. Identify evidence-based approaches to promote optimal patient outcomes and health-equity research advancement.

4. Apply best practices of health equity-informed patient care to navigate complex patient case scenarios and advocate for equitable patient care.
