The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) supports evidence-based clinical decision making in all aspects of patient care. Recent federal executive actions related to childhood immunization policy have generated significant discussion among healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and policymakers. ACCP believes that decisions regarding vaccine recommendations, immunization schedules, and vaccine administration should be guided by transparent evaluation of the best available scientific evidence, ongoing clinical research, established standards for public health, and shared decision making between patients, clinicians, and caregivers.
As discussions regarding childhood vaccine recommendations continue to evolve, clinical pharmacists play an essential role in the implementation of evidence-based, patient-centered immunization practices, patient education, and safety surveillance.
ACCP remains committed to advancing scientific literacy and evidence-based immunization practice.
