ACCP’s 2025 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Progress Update

As outlined in ACCP’s Strategic Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) plan, ACCP’s 2025 DEIA Committee was impaneled in the fall of 2024 and charged to provide input to the Board of Regents (BOR) on implementation of the DEIA plan.

Work of the committee included standing charges such as DEIA toolkit maintenance, review of applications and selection of recipients for DEIA travel awards, development and planning of an Annual Meeting educational session, and additional charges informed by objectives in the DEIA plan. The committee was organized into 3 subgroups, each with a distinct focus: (1) resources and inclusion, (2) awards and amplification, and (3) education. Each subgroup held several meetings and brought recommendations to the full committee for review, discussion, and consensus.

Highlights from 2025 committee deliverables approved by the BOR include:

  • Implemented Affinity Groups within ACCP. ACCP’s Affinity Groups are intended to represent social identity frameworks, creating an additional opportunity for interaction with ACCP members who may share similar self-identified personal/social traits. The committee developed and implemented an application process to support Affinity Group formation and a webpage and descriptive materials to facilitate members’ ability to join. The committee will host an Annual Meeting Affinity Group session on Monday, October 20, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (CDT) to share these details and invite groups to convene.
  • Implemented a mock review process and internal interrater reliability training to support consistency in reviewing and scoring DEIA travel award applications.
  • Implemented a “rising star” social media and web-based communications campaign to amplify the voices of underrepresented trainee and new practitioner members.
  • Implemented a mentoring guidance document to provide insights on integrating DEIA principles into mentorship programs within ACCP. This document is available within the PRN handbook and officer’s portal. PRNs with mentorship programs are encouraged to review and use this guidance.
  • Collaborated with the ACCP Awards Committee to implement revisions to Awards Committee policies, procedures, and communications to minimize bias.
  • Developed an educational session demonstrating that inclusive and equitable approaches to care are relevant to all of clinical pharmacy practice. Whole Person Care Is Better Care: A Drive Towards Pharmacoequity will take place at the ACCP Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 18, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CDT) in Minneapolis.
  • Updated ACCP DEIA training modules used for leadership development of PRN officers and other leaders within ACCP.

The committee will continue its work at the Annual Meeting and provide mentorship for DEIA travel awardees there.

Interest in serving on the 2024-2025 committee was solicited as part of ACCP’s annual call for volunteers. In response to the high volume of interested members, BOR President Jo Ellen Rodgers appointed the following 15 member volunteers:
