PRNs to Host Business Meeting and Networking Forums at the 2011 Annual Meeting

ACCP PRNs provide a focal point for clinical pharmacists with common interests and needs in practice, research, and education. Each PRN hosts a business meeting and networking forum at the Annual Meeting. All meeting registrants are invited to attend these events.


Monday, October 17, 2011

6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh Hotel

Ambulatory Care
– Allegheny Grand Ballroom II

Participants will join colleagues for an interactive, informative, yet fun-filled 1½ hours, with several activities designed to provide updates on the state of affairs of the Ambulatory Care PRN, introduce participants to their fellow PRN members, and disseminate recent pertinent information from the ambulatory care clinical world. Members will not want to miss this forum. Grab a friend and come on out for food, fun, and informative entertainment.

Central Nervous System
– Cambria East

Please join the CNS PRN for a business meeting and research presentation, followed by a networking session. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Clinical Administration
– Fayette

Anyone interested in issues related to clinical leadership and practice management is cordially invited to join this PRN business meeting and networking forum. Refreshments will be provided.

Critical Care
– Allegheny Grand Ballroom III

Join us for the Critical Care PRN networking forum/business meeting and interact with colleagues while you enjoy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Presentations will include a summary of PRN activities, reports from officers, and the Resident/Fellow Research Travel Award.

Drug Information
– Cambria West

The Drug Information PRN will hold a business meeting and networking forum for current and prospective members. The meeting will include an update of PRN activities as well as provide an opportunity to meet the officers and other PRN members and become involved with the PRN.

Education and Training
– Allegheny Grand Ballroom I

After our business meeting, a brief discussion on interviewing skills will take place. Clinical faculty and practitioners from around the nation will then conduct practice interviews for students getting ready to apply for jobs or residencies and for residents and fellows getting ready to apply to their first career positions. All educators, students, and postgraduate trainees are invited to attend. Supported in part by Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy.

Please join us for a networking meeting and planning session for next year’s continuing education program.

Hematology/Oncology
– Westmoreland Central

The Hematology/Oncology PRN business meeting and networking forum will meet to discuss the past year’s introduction of the new PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Resident of the Year Award, the Student/Resident Travel Awards, and the pharmacogenomics opinion paper. The new officers will be introduced, and volunteers for committee work will be solicited.

Immunology/Transplantation
– Butler

Please join the Immunology/Transplantation PRN for its business meeting and networking forum. Anyone who is interested in transplantation is welcome to attend. The business meeting will consist of installing new officers, discussing current and future PRN initiatives, and honoring the recipient of our PRN Resident/Fellow Travel Award. The meeting will conclude with a debate by current transplant specialty residents on a current transplantation issue. Supported in part by a grant from Astellas Pharma Global Development.

Pharmaceutical Industry
– Somerset

The PRN is looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues and welcoming new friends in an informal networking forum. Highlights will include the announcement of new officers and PRN committee updates.

Women’s Health
– Westmoreland East

The Women’s Health PRN will hold a networking forum for current and prospective members. The business meeting will include an update of PRN activities and initiatives as well as an opportunity to become involved in the PRN and meet others with interests and practices in women’s health. Members of the PRN help build one another’s careers. Come network! Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

During this business and networking meeting, current and prospective members will have an opportunity to meet, sign up for committees with the PRN, and exchange ideas. The business meeting will consist of installing new officers and discussing current and future PRN initiatives.

Cardiology
– Allegheny Grand Ballroom II

Join us for the Cardiology PRN business meeting, followed by research presentations by current residents and fellows. An informal reception will then ensue, allowing networking with new and old members, members collaborating on PRN-related projects, and trainees looking for job opportunities. Emergency Medicine
– Westmoreland East

Please join the Emergency Medicine PRN for its business meeting and networking forum; members and interested meeting attendees are welcome. The business meeting will include an update of PRN activities and initiatives, as well as an opportunity to become involved in the PRN. There will also be a presentation titled “Lipids, Not Just for Breakfast Anymore” by Renee Petzel, Pharm.D., which will be available for 1 hour of continuing pharmacy education credit. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

Endocrine and Metabolism
– Butler

The Endocrine and Metabolism PR will hold a business meeting and networking forum to solicit membership and enhance resident/student participation. The scheduled activities include a roundtable discussion and the PRN’s annual business meeting, with a planned networking event to follow.

Geriatrics
– Fayette

Join the Geriatrics PRN business meeting for an informal reception of networking, planning, and socializing. All who are interested in the care of geriatric patients are welcome.

GI/Liver/Nutrition
– Westmoreland Central

The meeting will consist of PRN-related business and will include networking opportunities in addition to a presentation of a resident or fellow research project.

Infectious Diseases
– Allegheny Grand Ballroom I

Please join us for the Infectious Diseases PRN business meeting and networking forum.

Nephrology
– Cambria East

All ACCP members interested in nephrology are invited to attend and participate in this networking forum. There will be a brief business report and a discussion of current and future projects and initiatives, followed by open discussion and networking opportunities. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Pain and Palliative Care
– Cambria West

Please join the Pain and Palliative Care PRN for a brief meeting and an opportunity to network with colleagues. An update on the status of BPS role delineation for pain and palliative care certification will be provided. All ACCP members with an interest in pain and palliative care are invited and encouraged to attend.

Pediatrics
– Somerset

Join the Pediatrics PRN for light refreshments, networking, and a lively discussion on the Collaboration Committee’s white paper on pediatrics as a pharmacy specialty and the progress on potential pediatrics board certification.

Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics
– Washington

Please join us for the Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics PRN business meeting and networking forum. The highlight of this event will be the research presentation given by M. Kelli Jordan, the ACCP Travel Award winner.
