Nutescu Appointed as PPI Board of Directors Chair

Edith Nutescu

ACCP member Edith Nutescu has been appointed by the ACCP president to a 2-year term as chair of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc. (PPI), the organization that oversees the publication of ACCP’s official journal, Pharmacotherapy. A past member of the ACCP Board of Regents and the PPI BOD and a Fellow of the College, Dr. Nutescu is currently an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy, and Codirector of the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy. She also serves as codirector of the Personalized Medicine Service at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System.

Nutescu’s research and practice interests are in the areas of comparative effectiveness, health services and outcomes, and health disparities with an emphasis in cardiovascular diseases and pharmacogenomics. She has written more than 150 scientific articles, and her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health; the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; the Department of Health and Human Services; the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; and the National Center for Research Resources. During an interview following her appointment, Nutescu commented:

I am very honored and excited to serve as chair of the Board of Directors. I am looking forward to working closely with board members; the Pharmacotherapy editor-in-chief, scientific editors, and editorial board; and the ACCP membership to make Pharmacotherapy the most prominent journal for pharmacotherapeutic and clinical pharmacy scholarship. I am going to be reaching out for support and ideas with the goal to increase the presence of the journal and PPI within ACCP and to expand our reach both nationally and across the globe.

The other members of the PPI BOD are Jerry Bauman, Lindsay DeVane, Michael Maddux, Terry Schwinghammer, and William Miller.
