The Board of Directors of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) announced the approval of two new specialties: Cardiology Pharmacy and Infectious Diseases Pharmacy. The announcement followed the board's February 8 approval of petitions for the new specialties. ACCP was a co-petitioner with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for the Cardiology Pharmacy specialty. ACCP also was a co-petitioner with APhA, ASHP, and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists for the Infectious Diseases Pharmacy specialty. Initial testing in the new specialties is planned for September 2018.
