Home Study Programs for Recertification Credit to be Available November 1

The Clinical Reasoning Series programs, presented live at the 2017 Annual Meeting, will be available for home study on November 1. The deadline to submit the posttest is December 31, 2017. All four programs in the series will offer board specialty recertification credits upon successful completion of the online posttest. Two of the programs will offer dual credit:

  • Clinical Reasoning Series in Critical Care Pharmacy—Management of Patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome—will offer Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) recertification credit.
  • Clinical Reasoning Series in Pediatric Pharmacy—Pediatric Asthma: Beyond the Guidelines—will offer Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS) and Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) recertification credit.

Programs to be presented are summarized below by type of Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) recertification credit offered.

BCCCP, BCPS Credits

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Critical Care Pharmacy session Management of Patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome will describe the most recent treatment strategies for patients with severe respiratory failure. Content will cover the need for rapid decision-making regarding the treatment of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome, the complexity of treating these patients, and the evolving literature regarding their management. The program is approved by BPS for 6.0 hours of recertification credit for both BCCCPs and BCPSs.

BCACP Credits

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy session Keeping Up with Cardiology will cover medication management of multiple cardiovascular diseases. Content will describe how ambulatory care pharmacists can decrease the impact of cardiovascular disease, reviews newly published data that may influence the applicability of recent clinical guidelines (particularly in specific patient populations), and updates the optimal management of a variety of cardiovascular issues. BCACPs can earn 6.0 hours of recertification credit.

BCPPS, BCACP Credits

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Pediatric Pharmacy session Pediatric Asthma: Beyond the Guidelines will cover the most recent treatment strategies for patients whose asthma does not respond to guideline-directed treatment. Pharmacogenomic variants in asthma and their place in the contemporary treatment of pediatric patients with asthma is also presented. This program will offer 6.0 hours of recertification credit for both BCPPSs and BCACPs.

BCPS Credits

The Clinical Reasoning Series in Pharmacotherapy program Gut Check Time: An Update in Gastrointestinal Pharmacotherapeutics will focus on contemporary strategies for the optimal treatment of patients with various GI diseases and conditions. Best practices in the management of intra-abdominal issues and diseases will be explored, together with evidence to help inform individual patient care and advance pharmacist services. The program will provide 6.0 hours of BCPS recertification credit.
