In light of the current surge in COVID-19 cases and the pervasiveness of the Delta variant, ACCP made the decision last month to cancel the in-person 2021 ACCP Annual Meeting originally scheduled for October 16–19 in Phoenix, Arizona. In its place, the College has redesigned the ACCP Annual Meeting to offer virtual and on-demand components. ACCP’s goal is to preserve the quality and intended outcomes of the Annual Meeting while offering flexible, affordable solutions that allow attendees to engage in as many of the event’s activities as possible. Registration is now open at www.accp.com/am, where you can view full program details and create your own custom registration package from the following elements.
2021 Virtual ACCP Member Meeting
All ACCP members are invited to join the College for the Virtual ACCP Member Meeting on Saturday, October 16, and Sunday, October 17. This event, free to all ACCP members, will feature the keynote address, From Diversity to Inclusion: Creating an Inclusive Organization, by Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Expert Mona Ameli of Ameli Global Partnerships; the ACCP Business Meeting and Town Hall; the Awards and Recognition Ceremony; and selected educational sessions. This event, exclusive to ACCP members (registration is required), will offer up to 7.25 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit as well as an opportunity to engage with speakers and attendees on an interactive meeting platform.
ACCP Annual Meeting On Demand
With its more than 60.0 contact hours of CPE, the ACCP Annual Meeting On Demand will feature PRN focus sessions and educational programs developed by the 2021 Annual Meeting Programming Committee. Registrants will receive access to new sessions in their ACCP account each Wednesday from October 27 through November 17. Materials will remain available for on-demand viewing through May 17, 2022, allowing participants time to watch any or all of the meeting’s 40 educational offerings.
Scientific Poster Sessions
Scientific Poster Sessions will be free and open to the public. Posters will be on display in the online poster hall for asynchronous viewing and comment October 16 through October 24. In addition, authors will be available during one of two interactive sessions for real-time, online question-and-answer sessions alongside their virtual posters. These sessions will be held on the evenings of Tuesday, October 19, and Wednesday, October 20.
ACCP Virtual Recruitment Events
ACCP’s Virtual Recruitment Events are designed to connect clinical pharmacy candidates with hiring representatives for residency, fellowship, and practitioner or faculty positions. Postgraduate program candidates will complete a candidate profile; meet with preceptors, program directors, and administrators; and learn more about available positions during the virtual Residency and Fellowship Showcase on Friday, October 29. Recruiters will post their position(s), review candidate profiles, and invite candidates of interest. Practitioner/faculty candidates will be able to complete a candidate profile, review the available positions online, and contact representatives to request a meeting. Virtual Professional Placement Meetings will take place by invitation on Thursday, November 11, and Friday, November 12. Participation is free for candidates.
These Virtual Recruitment Events will offer employers a unique opportunity to meet with some of clinical pharmacy’s most promising candidates and get a head start on 2022–2023 recruitment. Registration is free for employers with an ACCP Career Center listing and just $75 per postgraduate training program, making this the most affordable recruiting opportunity available.
Student Programming
A Student Programming package will include both on-demand and virtual elements. Registrants will receive the eBook The ACCP Field Guide to Becoming a Standout Pharmacy Residency Candidate, Third Edition and have access to on-demand sessions on writing CVs, navigating the application process, and honing interviewing skills (released October 16). These resources are designed to help students prepare for the virtual Residency and Fellowship Showcase on Friday, October 29. This package also includes “Emerge from the Crowd: How to Become a Standout Residency Candidate,” to be held virtually on Saturday, October 30. “Emerge from the Crowd” will include sessions on writing letters of intent, engaging in research, and achieving financial fitness, as well as interactive roundtables where students can interact with current residents from across the country.
PRN Business Meetings and Networking Forums
Each Practice and Research Network (PRN) will host its own virtual Business Meeting and Networking Forum in October or November. Check the respective PRN email lists or contact a PRN officer for more information in the coming weeks.
ACCP Committee and Task Force Meetings
This year’s committee and task force meetings will again be all-virtual. Impaneling of ACCP’s 2021–2022 committees and task forces is still in progress. Each committee and task force will hold its initial meeting in November, with follow-up meetings convened virtually over the next year.
