ACCP’s leadership in providing foundational support to help launch the Get the Medications Right (GTMRx) Institute in April 2019 ushered in a new era of the College’s advocacy portfolio. Building on the success of ongoing ACCP efforts to position and advance clinical practice and research, GTMRx has brought together a diverse range of stakeholders – including Johnson & Johnson and Quest Diagnostics – dedicated to advancing practice transformation and payment and policy solutions to optimize medication use through team-based, patient-centered care delivery and advanced diagnostics.
In addition, for the first time, the profession is becoming more unified around a clear pharmacy-wide comprehensive medication management (CMM) advocacy message, and the College welcomes its colleague organizations American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) to the GTMRx table.
Almost 1 year into this collaboration, ACCP is excited to announce the first major public GTMRx summit on February 6, 2020, Get the Medications Right: Innovations in Team-Based Care. Hosted in conjunction with the well-known Washington, D.C.–based think tank Bipartisan Policy Center, the summit will focus on multi-stakeholder activities that encourage practice transformation, create pathways for disseminating evidence and innovation, and support payment and policy reform.

About GTMRx
GTMRx’s goal is to ensure appropriate and personalized use of medication and gene therapies by advocating for a scientific, evidence-based, and cost-effective decision-making process and a team-based, systematic approach to medication use.
GTMRx sponsors and supports multi-stakeholder activities that encourage practice transformation, create pathways for disseminating evidence and innovation, and support payment and policy reform to:
- Advance acceptance and recognition by providers and payers (to include employers) of the importance of creating a systematic, evidence-based approach to medications and their rational use
- Engage physicians, clinical pharmacists, and other team members who share a complete commitment to medication optimization by providing tools, data, practice standards, and implementation resources to advance their ability to optimize medication use in their own settings
- Educate and inform patient groups, Congress, CMS, and payers (to include national health systems such as the VA)
