The increased pace of scientific investigation and the rapid dissemination of data through traditional channels of peer review and publication during the current pandemic have been remarkable. What has often taken months to occur has in many cases been reduced to weeks or days. The biomedical publishing industry has widely embraced its role in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.1
–C. Lindsay DeVane, Pharmacotherapy, Editor-in-Chief
ACCP’s journals have responded with an expedited, yet uncompromising approach during the current SARS-CoV2 pandemic. The editors-in-chief of both journals have invited and composed editorials that provide perspectives on clinical pharmacy practice and drug therapy concerns that have emerged as a result of COVID-19. In addition, reputable authors have submitted case reports and review articles to guide drug therapy management, patient care, clinical pharmacy services, and education.
Before the SARS-CoV2 pandemic, both journals had demonstrated growth and were operating efficiently. Manuscript submissions were high, and authors were receiving peer reviews and decisions within 25 days, on average. Because of this strong foundation, few changes were necessary to provide an even more rapid review and publication of COVID-19–related manuscripts. Wiley, the publisher of ACCP’s journals, has made all of both journals’ COVID-19 manuscripts free and accessible to anyone who wishes to download them, despite member or institutional access.
Manuscripts continue to be submitted, but at the writing of this article, Pharmacotherapy and the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy have published or accepted the following:
Pharmacotherapy Editorials
Pharmacotherapy Reviews of Therapeutics
Pharmacotherapy Case Reports
Pharmacotherapy Letters to the Editor
JACCP Editorials
- Gross AE, MacDougall C. Roles of the Clinical Pharmacist During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
JACCP Clinical Pharmacy Forum
JACCP Letters to the Editor
A special thank-you to the ACCP Journals’ editors-in-chief, editorial teams, reviewers, and authors who continue to ensure that ACCP members and both journals’ readerships are informed during this challenging time and that pharmacy roles and issues related to the current pandemic are highlighted. The ACCP Journals team maintains this commitment to the rapid dissemination of high-quality publications as we move forward, and we appreciate your support. We encourage you to follow ACCP Journals on Twitter (@JACCPJournal, @PharmacoJournal), Facebook (@pharmacotherapy), and LinkedIn (ACCP Journals) to be alerted to new manuscripts as they are released – or sign up to receive ACCP Journals content alerts from Wiley Online Library.
