Experience Phoenix

As the fifth-largest city in the United States and known for its year-round sun, world-class resorts, and golf, Phoenix is a mecca for desert beauty – a diverse and dynamic city offering a vibrant mix of Southwestern culture through its cuisine, activities, and shops. Phoenix is also home to a vibrant visual and performing arts scene, including the Phoenix Opera Company, the Phoenix Ballet, the Phoenix Theatre, and many unique museums. Phoenix earned one of its nicknames – “the Valley of the Sun” – for its location in the Salt River Valley within the Sonoran Desert, and there are many ways to explore this downtown Southwestern mecca. You can travel by light rail, taxi, rental car, Uber, Lyft, zTrip, or bike – or on foot!

In downtown Phoenix, Roosevelt Row is a walkable arts district that is home to art galleries, bars, restaurants, and boutique shops interspersed with colorful street art. Heading north of downtown will take you into Central Phoenix, or CenPho, home to areas known as uptown, midtown, and the Melrose District, among others. Walk to the Arizona State University campus, where you can hop onto the light rail and explore the CenPho food scene. Whether it’s Mediterranean-inspired cuisine at FEZ Restaurant & Bar, Thai at The Wild Thaiger, pizza at Pane Bianco, or Mexican fare at the Joyride Taco House, featuring a mid-century modern ambience, the CenPho area provides a wide array of palate pleasers for an art experience all its own.

Take in scenic views from vantages around the city, including outdoor adventures such as the Hole in the Rock trail in Papago Park and Dobbins Lookout on South Mountain, as well as restaurants with a view like Different Pointe of View in north Phoenix and the Compass Arizona Grill. No matter how you spend your leisure time exploring the Valley of the Sun, you are certain to be in awe.

Traveling to Phoenix

Affordable airfares are still available. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is 8 minutes from ACCP’s host hotel, the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. You can get to the hotel by Uber, Lyft, driving, or taxicab.
