GTMRx Releases Physician-Focused CMM Tools Developed by ACCP Members

The Get the Medications Right (GTMRx) Institute has released a series of tools designed to provide information to physicians about comprehensive medication management (CMM) services. The newly released resources were developed by the Best Practices and Innovative Solutions (BPIS) subgroup of the Practice and Care Delivery Transformation Workgroup – a diverse, interprofessional group of clinicians charged with developing tools to engage and educate key stakeholders and gain support for a standardized definition and process for CMM. ACCP members are prominently represented in the BPIS subgroup. In addition to the Medication Optimization Use Cases featured in last month’s ACCP Report, BPIS has developed several marketing and change package tools targeting self-insured employer, patient/consumer, and physician stakeholders. Two new tools have been added to those targeting the physician audience:

  • Improving Patient Care and Physician Work-Life through Comprehensive Medication Management is an infographic illustrating how CMM can optimize patient health outcomes and improve physician work-life in the context of increasing medication complexity. This graphical representation includes evidence of CMM’s positive impact on all components of the Quadruple Aim and is supplemented with a patient story. This leave-behind piece is appropriate for general marketing to a CMM-naive physician audience and can be used by administrators and clinical pharmacists implementing CMM services within their institutions.
  • Comprehensive Medication Management: FAQ for PhysiciansInformed by physician focus groups and presented in question-and-answer format, this document provides information about the value of CMM to physicians and patients, including the respective roles of each member of the CMM care team, the importance of collaborative practice agreements, and how to pay for CMM.

BPIS is continuing its work on stakeholder toolkits and change packages designed to serve as educational and marketing tools for important stakeholders, currently focusing on tools of relevance to leaders within accountable care organizations.

ACCP members who wish to be considered for participation in future GTMRx projects are encouraged to become signing members and indicate their interest in volunteering for a workgroup.
