ACCP Names New JACCP Editor-in-Chief

Haines to Succeed Bauman in Chief Editorial Role

Haines

Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc., the journal publishing arm of ACCP, issued a call for applicants for Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (JACCP) editor-in-chief last October and is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stuart T. Haines for this important role. Haines is professor of pharmacy practice and director, Division of Pharmacy Professional Development at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. Since 2019, Haines has served as the senior associate editor of JACCP and was previously a scientific editor for Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy (2012–2018). In addition, Haines is an editor for the textbook DiPiro’s Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach. He has served in several elected and appointed leadership positions in national organizations, including president of both ACCP and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. He has written more than 120 scholarly papers and book chapters regarding diabetes, cardiovascular disease, ambulatory care pharmacy practice models, and instructional methods.

Haines will work closely with Founding Editor-in-Chief Jerry L. Bauman over the next few months to prepare for Bauman’s retirement at the end of 2024. Bauman and his editorial team (five associate editors and an editorial board made up of 48 individuals with diverse expertise in clinical pharmacy practice, education, and research) have created a home for research, commentaries, and reviews on clinical pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy education, and health policy affecting clinical pharmacists since 2018. JACCP’s popularity and impact, measured through citations, downloads, and article submissions, have thrived under Bauman’s leadership. As Bauman prepares to hand over the reins, he describes Haines as an excellent fit for this new role:

With his experience as a successful scholar, his stellar national reputation, and his role as Senior Associate Editor of JACCP, Stuart is perfectly suited to lead the Journal to even more success in the future. I feel confident JACCP is in good hands going forward and well positioned to achieve its aim of being the premier journal dedicated to clinical pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy education, and health policy affecting clinical pharmacists.
