ACCP’s Critical Care Self-Assessment Program (CCSAP) began providing critical care clinical pharmacists with pertinent therapeutic updates in 2016 when the first candidates were becoming Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) board-certified critical care pharmacists (BCCCPs). The program has benefited from strong visionary leadership coupled with author, reviewer, and editor expertise to create a valuable continuing education product for the critical care clinical pharmacist. ACCP is pleased to announce that Dr. Zachary R. Smith will be joining Series Editor Lisa Hall Zimmerman to lead the ongoing development of CCSAP releases.
Smith is a 2011 graduate of Wayne State University’s Pharm.D. program. He completed PGY1 residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and PGY2 training in critical care at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is currently a clinical pharmacy specialist in critical care and pulmonary hypertension, ICU team leader, and PGY2 critical care program director at Henry Ford Hospital with a practice and scholarship focus on pulmonary hypertension and critical care pharmacotherapies. He is an active member of ACCP and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and a Fellow of both ACCP and SCCM. He is the chair-elect of the Critical Care PRN and president of the SCCM Michigan Chapter and has contributed to past CCSAP releases as a faculty panel chair, author, reviewer, and pilot tester.
The 2022–2024 CCSAP series was led by Zimmerman and Dr. Alexander Flannery. Learners will continue to benefit from Flannery’s leadership in the March 2025 CCSAP release, and ACCP is grateful for Flannery’s remarkable commitment to excellence throughout his CCSAP series editor role.
