ACCP Endorses 2025 AHA/ACC Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults

The American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC), in collaboration with ACCP, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Physician Associates, the Association of Black Cardiologists, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American Geriatrics Society, the American Medical Association, the American Society for Preventive Cardiology, the National Medical Association, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association, and the Society of General Internal Medicine, has published the 2025 Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults: A Report of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Joint Committee on Clinical Practice Guidelines in Circulation, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Hypertension.

The ACCP representative on the writing panel for this guideline was Adam P. Bress, Pharm.D., MS. Bress is a professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Utah School of Medicine and director of the IMPACT HSR (Integrating Medicine and Policy to Achieve Healthcare Transformation) program. Sarah J. Billups, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, represented ACCP on the reviewer panel. Billups is an associate professor at University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and works in the Office of Value-Based Performance at University of Colorado Medicine, where she leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of population-management strategies to improve quality outcomes. In addition to Bress and Billups, ACCP would like to acknowledge the work of another member, Dave L. Dixon, Pharm.D., FCCP, FACC, FAHA, FNLA, BCACP, CLS, who serves on the ACC/AHA Joint Committee on Clinical Practice Guidelines. This is the fourth AHA/ACC guideline to be published with endorsement from ACCP.
