AHRQ has launched a new Web site called the Pharmacy Health Literacy Center—http://pharmacyhealthliteracy.ahrq.gov—which includes a variety of resources on the topic of health literacy and the interface of this important issue with the pharmacist’s role as provider of patient care services that enhance the quality and safety of medication use. The site features four tools for use by pharmacists and/or their practice settings; these can be downloaded directly from the Web site. Information and assistance for using the tools is also provided.
ACCP has added this link directly to its existing list of AHRQ-based resources on the ACCP Web site. The College continues to work closely with AHRQ and organizations that collaborate with the agency to build valuable bridges that can promote better patient care, support ACCP members, and advance the important work of AHRQ.
For additional information, contact Sarah Shoemaker, Pharm.D., Ph.D. ([email protected]). Dr. Shoemaker, who is working directly with AHRQ in spearheading this effort, welcomes feedback on the site and its usefulness. She also coordinates a discussion forum on the Web site for pharmacists and others regarding this important issue.
