ACCP recently joined eight national pharmacy organizations in a collaborative letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy regarding recent changes to the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) charter. The coalition emphasized the importance of maintaining a transparent, evidence-based approach to vaccine policy and ensuring recommendations continue to be guided by scientific expertise.
The letter expressed concerns that charter changes could affect the rigor, transparency, and timeliness of ACIP recommendations and outlined several recommendations, including merit-based member selection, timely review of vaccines following FDA actions, and clear public recordkeeping processes. ACCP is proud to collaborate with pharmacy colleagues in advocating for policies that support evidence-based immunization practices and public trust in vaccine recommendations.
