ACCP Launches Self-Assessment Program for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacist

ACSAP

Continuing its long history of providing recertification products for the board-certified pharmacist, ACCP will launch the new Ambulatory Care Self-Assessment Program (ACSAP) on January 15, 2013.

The goal of ACSAP is to provide the Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) with the latest evidence-based updates in focused therapeutic areas in the ambulatory care setting. This home study program provides information in an easy-to-access format, enabling the BCACP to immediately integrate it into clinical practice.

Subscribers to this new program will find several features designed to enhance learning and promote the application of updates to patient care. These features include:

  • Coverage of the topic areas in the BPS content outline for the BCACP delivered through two books released per year (January and July).
  • In-text references to the most recent primary literature (past 3–5 years).
  • Hyperlinks to guidelines, online tools, and other pharmacy resources.
  • Graphic features that translate evidence-based updates directly to patient care, including Pivotal Study That May Change Practice, Patient Care Scenario, and Practice Points.
  • A 4-month window to take ACSAP modules for BCACP recertification credit.

Six ACSAP books will be released from 2013 to 2015. The ACSAP series will provide the BCACP with more than the required 100 continuing pharmacy education credits needed to recertify.

Pulmonary and Preventive Care will be the first book released in the new series. Serving as faculty panel chair for 2013 Book 1 is Dennis M. Williams, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS. Infection Primary Care will be the second book in the series. Serving as faculty panel chair is Ralph H. Raasch, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS. Leading the new edition as ACSAP series editors are Betty J. Dong, Pharm.D., FCCP, FASHP, AAHIVE; and David P. Elliott, Pharm.D., FCCP, FASCP, CGP, AGSF. Book release and test deadlines for the new series are as follows:
